Default Enough to make you cry

My friend's son has just sold his white Impreza WRX wagon.

Car was a 1999 classic wagion WRX with over 100K miles on it. The car was lightly modified and running about 320hp. Good condition but not mint!

He lives in Australia.

Car sold for $11900 AUD which equates to about £7900

Would have been lucky to see £3K here,

My V3 STI was 500,000 Thai baht when I bought it 2 years ago (about 10k).

Price has actually gone up slightly since then, average now for a good one (classic) is 500,000 - 600,000 baht (11-12k)

Cars dont rust as quickly over in oz so thry last longer in better condition. A mate emigrated a few years ago and was going to cargo his clk as cars were so expensive. An example he gave me was that his clk cost him the same as what a 1996 vauxhall corsa would have run him over there.

It's got far more to do with them having a buoyant economy than rust!

Yep, same here in croatia, pretty much double and more for second hand cars and they seem to hold their value even though most people drive them until they break and then fix them, no routine servicing, just put right what needs sorting come MOT time, and a lot don't even do that, they just slip the tester £20 with the documents and away they go, unless the car is completely hanging.

I'd never buy a car here, they all rag the crap out of them, even the women and old folks drive like nutters ALL the time, screeching tyres, screeming engines, overtaking on bends, into oncoming traffic, solid white lines mean nothing here.

My saying for them is, when they get in a car instead of putting on the seat belt they take out their brain.
