On with the repairs
Well guys
After long and serious consideration of a rebuild or new engine, I have decided to rebuild.
Here's the best bit.....
I have decided to bite the bullet and send it to Subaru.
At first this is something I did no even contemplate, thought they would have my eyes out.... however I was pleasantly surprised.
The service was great and they collected the car for free and also stripping the engine before we sit down and look at options.
If the car needs a full rebuild , inc crank and all parts direct from dealer its gonna cost £2200, this comes with a 2yr warranty.
They have also given me the option of sourcing the parts myself to reduce the cost.
The mechanic seriously knows his stuff and has been the number 1 subaru technician in England for the last two years.
I know some people may think i'm crazy , but i really think this is the best option going forward.

There are a few great guys up near me inc Andy Kindon and Eclipse.
If it needs a rebuild then no expense will be spared , to prevent it going again. Plus if I have a 2 year warranty then can't really see any issues going forward.
The way I see it , if the work is done correctly and everything is replaced, no cutting corners , all should be well ?

Chris Harisson placed 1st in the UK and 12th in the world.
The test consists of both manual work and written.
I suggest before you hijack my thread with sarcastic remarks you do some research.

Great piece of sarcasm, but if you did know anything about Subaru , then surely you would know that they hold an annual technician competition.

A good tech your man might be, but I would rather have my engine rebuild done by someone that does subaru engine building for a living with a proven track record.

+1 rather than someone who spends alot of time in a dealer possible only doing minor things like belts and sensors. I may be wrong, he might actually be an engine building legend.
