Why do most adverts for sale say the cars have 400+ bhp when they more than likely have 250bhp, why lie? Only makes them look like idiots. Mine is 250bhp and I happily admit it! Its not that hard.
Why cant people tell the truth when buying bits. Been burnt 3times this year talking people's words for stuff. How can people lie stright to your face,or
On the phone? I wouldn't dream of ripping another Subaru owner, no group respect? I brought an "mint alloy Bonnet" from a bloke, dropped it off at my sisters (which was nice of him) turns out to be a bodged steel one.refused to answer a call. Brought a new unequal manifold and end up with a equal one
, brought an exhaust system on here and had it posted due to being 400miles
Away, not the one in the photos provided. Before you all say it's partly my fault for trusting, hands up your right. Never had this issue with other car brands I have owned in the past.

Yes the chavs , lower classes ,unwashed and uneducated have bought Scoobies now
Just a short term thing though 2/3 years of insurance ,rusty arches ,rising perol costs and they will have no money after driving through Halfrauds and picking up all sorts of tat and strange sounding PppppSssssssTttttttt valves
They will get inspiration from jeremany Kyle and soon get thier teenage girlfriends pregnant after impressing them in McDonalds car parks
Then we will get back to the true petrol heads that we can trust

I can't help but laugh when people make out it's just a Subaru image problem.
Have a look on the MLR these days, it's as bad as here.
It's Jap's in general that are attracting the 'undesirables', not just the Subaru's

In my younger years I remember, unintentionally, doing the opposite...
I bought a Version 3 WRX back in 2007 & after reading the spec, it was stated as 280ps from factory - so I was saying to mates it was 280 BHP![Norty](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/norty.gif)
I added a few bits & pieces (front mount & FPR etc) myself in the hope that I'd 'regain' some BHP that was lost since the time it was built (11yrs & 80k mls).
A 'mate' that was supposed to be ITK about ALL Jap cars was pretty much saying I was extending the truth - so I took the car to Surrey RR one night - she came off the rollers @324bhp
I was a
Bunny whilst he was
Random reply, I know - but hey - I've learnt just to enjoy the car I have...

The problem with subarus now is as said there being owned by chava and tossers the reason is there coming over and being registered as gl's which if I believe are group 6/7 insurance???
So they go from a 1litre corsa with a dustbin lid exhaust and Lexus lights to a powerful wrx and think there first names Colin ..
There are a load on eBay n ph etc
400+++++
Answers no mods listed apart from filter exhaust front mount
No sign of an ecu etc
But "my mates got a """"""". "
" I raced a """"" and beat it"
" the last owner told me"
"my mate said"
" these mods add at least """"???? "
So basically you've read the bumf that comes with the filter saying you can get an extra 15bhp so that's what it must have
I've asked a few on egay about these so called 400++ cars and not one has had proof, dyno, receipts, or even a hint of the mods needed to get there
eBay and sites like that should clamp down cos people are getting ripped off left right and centre.
With my mods I should see 330-350 absolute max on Injectors but untill it's mapped and dynod I would t dream of making a figure up

I've got 700 in my bug from a filter and an exhaust so ner ner

Delusion; A belief held with strong conviction despite evidence to the contrary.
As in, it's ok to buy second hand Subaru parts as advertised on Ebay.
Solution; Open eyes and clear mind before careless use of laptop.

So very true.
This happens to a lot of former highly regarded cars once they have a few years under their belt. Seen it time and again even with higher spec Rovers and MGs few could ever afford new. Then there comes a time when values having reached rock bottom, nice original ones actually hold or even appreciate in value. Not huge amounts of course, but, worthwhile ones.
When those "in the trade" no longer see any car as a "nice little earner", again values plummet steeply. This mainly impacts on car consumer buyers rather than car enthusiast buyers. There's a big difference but as consumers vastly outnumber enthusiasts, values fall in line with consumer demand. Many who can afford to buy uber-expensive exotics are not true petrol head enthusiasts. There are several reasons for that.
It is then that real unmolested bargains can be had if you're patient and look carefully. There's often a bright side of life if you know where to find it.

Said it before and I'll say it again, there is a saying in the trade:
Before a car becomes a classic it becomes cheap.
It may be tasteful as money certainly doesn't buy class, or intellect, or anything other than the means to purchase stuff, BUT....
Mongs are inordinately well represented in the lower end of the socio-economic scale!

I saw mine on petrolheads, like you say, unmolested, 04reg, with 37k on the clock, an absolute steal - others of a similar price, certainly, but with 80 or 90k.
I've done nothing to it, besides add a K&N filter, a kicking soundsystem, and STi mudflaps.
Happy as a pig in proverbial.

I was speaking to a well respected GT-R specialist recently. He said it's already started with the GT-R's as the vehicles are getting more and more affordable. He thinks another couple of years left for them to be still predominantly bought by the non chav brigade.
You should take it as flattery and let's be honest....... anyone that owns a Scoob has to have a little bit of chav in them. I know I do.

Early scoobies have gone the same way cossies went a few years ago, prices are rock bottom so cars with mods are being broken up while decent cars are being bought by people who can't afford to properly maintain them, as more cars get broken, prices of decent ones will start to climb again, look at the price of cossies now
