Default Good old days

I knew I needed fuel this morning so I pooped down to the local shell garage an d when I pulled up to the pump I was greeted by an attendant like in the old days when they fill your car up for you.....

Now I didn't mind him being there, but, he was poking my fuel flap with his grubby little mitts and when I said "I got it mate" he seemed a bit offended and scurried off to someone else?!?!

Has anyone else seen these attendants? I mean he had the pit crew style shirt and everything looked legit to me

I belive in Newport pagnell there is a station that has continued to do this ever since life had colour. I've never used it but I also belive they wear the traditional clothing, clean your screen check oil etc. Obviously you pay more.

My local Shell hasn't started doing this, but the other one on the main dual carriageway a few miles up the road has. Rather do it myself tbh, what else am i going to do other than stand around and wait?

Might be a nice touch for the older generation, but if they can afford to pay extra salaries, knock a penny off every litre instead!

Yep, seen this next door to my work at the Shell.
I think they are there to help but also try and get people to sign up to the Shell drivers club card.

I have seen this all over London but I would rather do it myself as it feels a bit ponsie having someone else pump my fuel.

But in reality how much do we get back? I spend £250-£300 a month and get between £10-£15 in vouchers back a quarter I think. Which is roughly between a 1% to 1.5% return. For all the cost of the dam cards and system they could knock 2p a liter off and it would be easier
