Default Scooby Trackday ideas...?

Hey,

Have been working for Club MSV as a Trackday Organiser for a while, personally really interested in getting a Scooby or an Evo and would love to see some more of them on track. Have you got any ideas or thoughts that would make you more likely to book up as a group?

E.g. Scooby Owners Trackday, Jap Trackday, Scooby vs Evo...

All thoughts and ideas welcome, cheers guys.

What would the cost be for a scoob trackday at brands?

Know 4 or 5 people that would definately be interested if it could be organized at a reasonable price.

Wink

MSV are great professionally run events

Brands is a great track, (MLR, SIDC & Skylines) have been doing them there every Febuary for the last 7+ years. 2011 I did my ARDS test and Full day Trackday tution +ARDs there. With Natan Ellis. I was the lunitic with a missile
Brands has no real noise issues although trye squeal with Scooby 4WD I tended to got the odd blackflag

Never done Brands international circuit as FAR tooo expensive

Oulton Park is a better circuit but has far less run off.

Bedford Autodrome is the best Circuit to start on, plenty of run off nearlly nothing to hit. BUT Scooby induction and exhaust noise is a BIG problem. Anything other than standard Airbox and PPP exhaust will be doubtful to pass the Drive through.

Malory & Snetterton (not done it as 300 yet) are Ok for the bigger BHP guys. but found them a bit "boring" LOL

IMHO

I did a track day last year and its was booked through MLR! They were well organised and despite me being in a Scooby they were friendly and really welcoming. I think it would be good publicity for both brands, proving that despite the internet banter, bragging and slagging, we can actually all get along with each other!

Above mentioned track day was my first. You get a yellow sticker with a black cross to attach to the rear of your car to show you're a novice. After a lap or two the nerves go and you start to enjoy yourself!! There are usually strict rules regarding overtaking etc too, which makes it safer. The more seasoned track day racers are generally sympathetic to novices, don't forget they had to start somewhere!!
Now get off that fence and get out on track

If not & you are suggesting these as ideas then yeah I am sure it would generate a lot of interest from people on here. The only thing I would say no to is scooby vs evo. Don't really know why maybe i'm racist!

This is just my opinion but what I would think simply what is required is someone, like yourself, to organise it.

If you look in the marketplace on here and look at the group buys section you will find companies compiling lists of people wanting to buy a particular product or service from them. I see no difference in what you are suggesting. A slight discount is the way to encourage people to signup.

I guess the reason why I havent done a day myself yet is twofold, firstly I never think my car is good enough so its on an ever improving regime where I say, "i'll get the brakes done then its ready", then its, "ahh but the tyres are marginal better wait until they are changed", then something else and then ... never happened yet!

Secondly it always feels like jumping in at the deep end of the pool contemplating a trackday, being that there are lots of experienced folk who go and might not be happy about me bumbling around getting in their way!

If you could find a way to convince fence sitters like me to participate then you would be doing a good thing. I have definately met more people that would like to do a track day than have actually done one.

A friend is doing a 1 hour taster session at rockingham for £30 which I liked the idea of as its cheap and might be a good way to test the water so to speak. Unfortunately its on a weekday and I cant make it though.
Cheers for your feedback. There aren't any days arranged yet, it's just wicked when I get to see a Scooby going round Brands from the office and would like to see some more of them.

Ok cool, might be worth me setting up a topic with some general info in the group buys section too just for people's reference and to get an idea of who's interested.

In terms of slight discounts, I can sort out a 10% discount on everyone's booking if its a group of 10+ which would also apply to any additions like helmet hire, one-to-one tuition etc. I'll also be able to reserve a double garage in the pit lane free of charge for the club to brand and meet up in etc.

Taster Sesisons are deffo a good way to get a feel of what it's like to be on circuit, but on all Club MSV events you can book one-to-one instructor sessions and they seriously make a difference. First time I went out on circuit was in one of the Club MSV Peugeot RCZs, had an instructor with me, and after 20 mins I was so much more confident and lovin' it.

If you've got a Scooby it's more than likely that your car is going to be good enough. There's such a massive range of cars that go out on circuit, you'll be surprised!...

Prices can vary, £225 is the general price for an open pit lane trackday during the summer but it can drop to around £200 for October and £149 for November...if you chuck on the discount as well, it makes it pretty decent value for a potential 7 hours of track time!

If you wanted a day exclusive to just Scoobies, Evo's etc we would have to have a decent idea of numbers as it takes 60 cars to fill a day. Could be an option though!

Your Evo best bet is to contact Darin at the MLR www.lancerregister.com he and his partner Michele run thei club and organise track events. He is well known at MSV an castle Combe.

Donny is the most central circuit but IIRC it's not owned by Jonathan Palmers group MSV which is a shame IMHO

Defo do the the 24th and probably the 5th too.

Assume I qualify as a novice seeing as I've only driven my car 4 time and spent less than an hour in it.

Novices are classed as being drivers that have done a maximum of three trackdays already and race cars aren't permitted.

Both days would be cool but the general Open Pit Lane on the 5th would probably be better for a group and appeal to more people.

Hmmm. What if the interested party (me) had built a race car? Just because someone has a "race car" doesnt mean they can drive it properly. I've only done one track day so far and was getting spanked by everyone.

Surely nvoice is directed towards the driver and amount of experience they have, not what type of car they are driving?

Modified cars are allowed but "race cars" that are used purely for racing are not permitted. The whole ethos of a novice event is to create a safe environment for beginners. If a first timer on track see's a race spec, stickered car in their rear view mirror it can become intimidating and lead to mistakes/accidents.

If anyone is unsure if their car is suitable for a novice event they are welcome to check by sending a photo to cartrackdays@clubmsv.co.uk

Matt's car is stickered up and stripped out but he is far from a race driver and I think he would benefit greatly from going on a track day with some one to one tutition

I'd be interested in a track day preferably in the Midlands, but I'd travel further as long as VPower was available near. I'm a total novice, did a track day 10 years ago in a hired car but Iv never been on a track day in my Scooby.
