Question MY99 Standard Headlight bulbs

Been a long time, can anyone tell me what bulb types are fitted as standard to an RB5, and can anyone recommend some decent bulbs, or SMD led replacement bulbs.

Thanks Phill

Look on eBay mate, I paid £30 for some halfords brilliance bulbs and then found pretty much exactly the same ones online for £10! Basically Halfords are a rip off!

"pretty much exactly same........"

Hmmmmmmm, the slightest misalignment will cause scatter. Cheap bulbs are just that.

Stick to decent bulbs, but if buying Halfords, always wait for their BOGOF offers.

Or get yourself a Halfords trade discount card, they almost pay you for bulbs

I actually bought some bulbs from eBay. 100W and they do state for off road use only. I've found them pretty good and better than the few I tried from Halfords. But remember, regardless of what bulbs you use on a classic the light is never going to be great.

Sorry to Hijack, but is there any issue with wiring burning out fitting these 100W bulbs?

The lighting on my 2000 Classic is shockingly bad - I need some better bulbs fast!

I've used 100W bulbs for many years in all sorts of cars and I've never had an issue. Just bought some more today actually from trusty old eBay, 100W bulbs delivered for £6.80 Going in my sisters VW Bora.

If it bothers you, you can soon upgrade the wiring using one, or even two £3 relays, and some thicker wire, plus a couple of fuses.

An hour's work.

I've had many of the Halfords Brilliance bulbs and was very happy with their performance having tried Phillips and PIAA previously. Currently on Osram night breakers and would rate them slightly above the Halfords due to their slightly better dipped performance
