93wrx to 170bhp diesel
Im looking at getting a new car (gonna keep the 93wrx for the track)
I need something thats newish, good on fuel but with a bit of umpf for about £10k
so ive been thinking of either:
177 bhp 3 series m sport 330d
170 bhp vw golf diesel
i was looking at evos but i dont think i can stomache the running costs.
The torque figures for the cars above look good and they return 50mpg.
im expecting a drop in performance but im hoping the diesel turbo will be good for grunt and keep me entertained. your thoughts?

Been thinking of going down the BMW route myself!
Obvs keep the toy but the idea of torque and rwd in the weather we have as a daily driver pleases me!
They will of course map up well too....
Positive thoughts here!

My wrxd remapped is great had it for over 3years and 39k on the clock
Engine loosening up nicely and averages 45-47 mpg on mixed short and fast driving and 50 on a long journey
Once I'm into 2nd gear mid range 30-120 is the same my classic turbo too
Any vag group diesel will be a flyer
Fabia VRs would be recommended highly

obviously there is the 330d but you have to go a bit older to get one of them and then you start paying more in road tax and the mpg falls. i like the sound of 170 bhp but im hoping it wont be too slow for me. im not sure i could go for a vaux. im not a vaux man. i want german! ;-)

Diesels are different to drive very nice relaxed engine but just forget traffic light grand prix
3/4 gear acceratration what a diesel is all about and 500+ to the tank instead of 250!

Yes Andy. 1.9 Vectra CDTi 279 bhp and 437 lbs ft in daily driving trim. We had 284 bhp while mapping and took it back a little to leave it clean on the road.
Just done a 530D for my former solicitor. Big heavy car but surprisingly quick. Economy also improved. I got a very nice Fabia VRS for my brother. Good car too and relatively cheap to get a bit more out of it.
