Default starting trouble 1998 turbo

Have a problem now and then with my scooby starting, every time from cold with out fail first touch of the key it running. But now and then once you have got it warm you have to turn it over for 5-10 seconds before it wil fire up. It seems to be when i turn it off and leave it say an hour it wil do it then.
Any common problems i shud check?
Thanks in advance Rob.

First off, check you aren't touching the throttle AT ALL before trying to start it, not even a little dab.

If you do, it floods.

As I said, it floods the engine if you touch/dab/feather the throttle BEFORE turning the key to start. Keep your foot OFF the throttle until the engine catches.

Once flooded, or if you accidentally do it, (I know it's hard to get out of the habit of a little dab before starting), keep cranking while slowly depressing the throttle to the floor. This SHOULD start a flooded engine.

Give it an try, see if my advice helps, if not, come back and we'll think again.
