Girl in need!!
I don't really know where else to ask and I'm pretty sure I've seen my other half on here reading some bits so I thought I'd give it a go.
It's his birthday and I would llike to arrange a track day for him but I have no idea of which track is best? I have googled a few things and think I'm looking at about £200? Is this correct? I think that was for Silverstone.
He has a Impreza WRX I think if that's of any use?
Any help/advise would be muchly appreciated.
Thanks
Amy X

In the southern area's
you have Silvertone, Brands Hatch and Bedford Aerodrome.
Bedford has a lot of run off's so might be better if he hasn't been on track much.
Check out http://www.clubmsv.co.uk/ for trackdays at the major locations.

Do you want him to drive his own car or a selection of other high performance cars? As the guy above says, if he uses his own then you will have to ensure his exhaust is quiet enough to meet the specific track limits. Also if he uses his own he will wear his tyres out, brakes out etc etc.
I have done plenty like the Ferrari day at Silverstone where you get to drive a proton (lotus tuned car), lotus elise, then Ferrari. Great day out. Also done the rally day there which is awesome fun!
Bought an experience at another track for my wife to drive an RS4, Porsche 911, Scooby sti, and few other cars. Was not quite as good for the experience as it was only driving round set cones and not a full track.
(However this event lead us to buy our Scooby)!!! Haha
Good luck!

I want it to be a surprise and there is no way I'd be able to get it checked without his say so...
Could I not just book one with the highest DB limit just to be safe?

As above, brakes, tyres, possibly clutch, full service will need to be done after a track session so bear that in mind.
Silverstone i think is 105db which I would think he would be under depending on the exhaust system he has.

He's just had a whole service done about a month ago. Would it need to be done straight after? I'm looking to book it for next month. Sorry for all the questions.

Depends how hard he drives - worth changing the oil after (only £60 max if he does it himself)

They are not cheap if you calculate the cost on the car unfortunately.

Also there is a small chance that he will come off the track and damage (worst case write off) the car. His current road insurance won’t cover this. You can get a separate policy to cover this.
Also, if he damages the car you may need to pay additional for a transporter to get the car home as AA & RAC wont transport cars that have been damaged on a track.
Sorry, I’m not intending to be negative, just stating things worth bearing in mind.
It is a great thing to do, he will love it!!!!

That’s why in my opinion a driving experience is a much easier present to keep a complete surprise as there are no risks. If you write a Ferrari off its not yours! Haha.
That said, I’m 100% sure he would enjoy a track day in his car much more. But… there is a lot to consider & a lot of extra expense when you use your own car so may be difficult keeping this a secret.

I have spoken to the Mr and he thinks an experience will be better than a track day... as he's just spent £££ on his car and new tyres etc. X

If you are free this Sunday send him along to this and have a look at some of our track cars, we can give some advice and cost ideas for when he does decide to do one.

As experiences go, i dont think they get any better than philprice rally school!
Everything else is just a bit too "billy day" .... i.e. 6 lots of faff and hanging about to join a queue of 50 people getting theyre 6 laps each!
Phil price rally school is a proper learning experience and you get to have a good bit of time in mk2 escorts and impreza rally cars on gravel.
