Default Trip to Somerset

Hi,

Had a nice drive from Aldershot to Sparkford today to visit the Haynes Motor Museum.

Man they've got some nice cars there. No Jap stuff sadly, but lots of other interesting machines.

A bit pricey at £9.95 entry, and only takes about an hour to see all the cars, but we could have stayed longer I guess.

My fave had to be the red Pontiac Firebird and a **** hot Dodge Charger.
Jag XJ220 was quite a site too, never seen one up close, awesome.

The journey along the M3 / A303 was great, no traffic except near Stonehenge, but all in all a great little afternoon. Pub lunch in Castle Cary was good, there were some hardcore bikers there, nice tunes when they all took off!

Only one idiot in a Polo thought he'd take me as two lanes go into one, I, on the other hand, had different ideas!

Nice day.

I like the Haynes museum,I liked the Red Room as that does have a 240Z Samurai edition.
It is a bit pricey but so is Beaulieu if you just go there for the cars.

Is the 240Z a Datsun?

Beaulieu is far bigger and better of course, went there last year. Loved the Top Gear section, and was great to see the James Bond genuine stuff too.

Indeed it is a Datsun.
Went to Beaulieu this year on August Bank Holiday Monday for the Supercar Showdown and ,tbh, wasn't impressed, yes the Bond and Top Gear elements were great but Bond is only there till the end of the year so they will have to replace it with something I guess? and I have to say you could see the car part of Beaulieu in half a day imo.

My favorite piece there was the Rothmans MkII Ford Escort Rally car. Don't know why, but it was!

To see the shirt genuinely worn by Jaws and an original Moonraker space suit was unreal. The Bond collection is an amazing one.
