Tbh mate it's not likely you would get a decent answer on here.
You would need to have a damn good look round the car to see what's what.

Could have seized brakes, handbrake could be stuck on, could be loads that needs doing, or very little, without looking at the car no one could really give you a clue

Depends if it's been stored away, or just left parked, clutch could be stuck on, smart person would have greased the brakes and had the clutch pressed, battery disconnected,
Interior could be moldy it's common for the car to get damp. All depends on the price,

clutch was taken out with engine apparently and no mould so for £1000 think me and the brother in law are going to attempt a rebuild before buying another engine

The only thing that happened to mine in 9 months was rusty front discs at their rears, which caused pitting and they needed replaced earlier than normal, plus a flat battery.

When cars like this can be had for under 3 grand (see link) your mad to throw a grand at a bug WRX with knackered motor.
Before you know it you'll have another 2 grand wrapped up in it.

Spot on,even if you buy this car for circa £1000 you will still have to pay another few thousands to get the car up to spec by the sounds of it.3 yrs parked up is quite a time.

Agree with this...but... if you and your bro are gonna do it together it will be a great laugh for 500 each! Yes it will cost you more but a good way to learn i suppose. Wont be easy though im sure... Good luck if you do it

If you plan on a long project then I can see the attraction and a grand is not a huge outlay. Just bare in mind that you'll probably end up with a car worth less than it owes you, but then so do I and just about every other Impreza owner..lol..

If you can persuade the owner to knock a couple of hundred quid off the price then go for it chap.
