Default Still twitching to left...

Hi All,

WRX STI Spec D 07/07 25k miles.

This problem is worrying me now, and I'm after suggestions as to what the fault is.

Ok, steering in a straight line, any road, come off the gas, and the front wheels twitch and pull the front of the car to the left.

Same scenario when I dip the clutch.

I can counter steer it, but thats not ideal of course.

Recently had 4 new tyres (not wearing oddly) and 4 wheel alignment.

I had the exact same problem before new tyres and 4 wheel alignment by the way.

It's the same if I come off the gas round a tight corner - which ever direction I'm steering, the car wants to tuck over that way.

It feels almost dangerous to drive.

It's not enough to pull me into another lane, but it's really noticable. It's only happening momentarily, and then the front wheels seem to centre themselves again.

Not road camber is it pal? Sounds wrong but try driving on the other side (at night I would suggest) and do it again

Unlikely, too fierce and momentarily to be that.

Totally different car I know but years ago my old escort used to do it, it was the bushes in the bottom arms that had worn out. I had to change these every year to pass a mot and stop it wandering.

Hmm. But why only when I come off the gas or dip the clutch?

But wouldn't I be hearing knocking etc?

It's only done 25k miles.

I really appreciate everyone's input.

Did you have the wheel alignment done by somewhere with a good reputation ?? I had a similar issue with my spec D and had rear camber bolts fitted and setup and problem went away.

As I remember the alignment was done at wewonkanysteeringwheel.com

I'd be taking it to a proper alignment specialist, for all you know the track rod ends are looser than a school girl at a maths teacher conference

I remember you saying about camber bolts before. And it's something I will be asking my dealer about.

Lol, but the problem was there before the alignment / tyres were even touched.

This is why I'm still wearing that dress and can't really give the car the life it needs / deserves!

OK, so it did this before new tyres then.

Take it to someone that knows what they're doing, but steering control arm or bushes are my bet.

Wouldn't these items be knocking though?

I don't know the exact science behind it but from what I understand when you let off the gas or dip the clutch the wheel ever so slightly moves back and the worn bush causing it to pull to the side. My escort was that bad it would pull to the right under hard acceleration then shoot off to the left when off the accelerator. This was a major handfull when giving it beans up the gears.
