Have a look at www.opeoils.co.uk
They can give you some advice, or do a search for oilman on here

You sound concerned about the oil not being changed for 4 months? Unless he did 10,000miles plus during that time, there's not really a problem.
Shell Helix is fine but it's quite ok to change to something else.

What viscosity oil did you use ?

Did you disconnect the crank sensor and crank it before starting it after the oil change?

Do you think Subaru main stealers disconnect the crank sensor?

Ignore the Crank Sensor Disconnect bollox ... as that's what it is.

A Scooby is a car, like any other - it has an Engine which simply needs Servicing - albeit at 6 months intervals .......

If you have changed the oil before on any other car, you haven't caused any damage by doing what you have done ... so, relax.
