Hi all
could i pick someone's brains please i have today just done my first track awesome loved it what a tract car my impreza is. however i started to lose power. after pulling back into the pits i noticed a slight rattling noise as a slowly pushed my accelerator on a little. thought it might be bearings in turbo? Can get a new turbo off a 1996 impreza mine is a x reg would this fit

 

A rattle ain't good, is it defo coming from turbo, hope so.

 

I'd do a compression test asap. Fingers crossed it is the turbo.....

 

Does it sound like this?


If so it could be the wastegate penny is loose. Give the actuator a tighten up and it should stop. Worth a try mate

Yes does sound like that mate not as loud tho but the same rattle tingy thing, appreciate your post pal i will try that asap. will let you know how i get on. thanks again... tom

Yours is maybe just starting to come loose. Mine was really bad but a couple of turns on the actuator and the rattle had gone and power was back to normal

 

would this also explain the slight drop in power?

Yes because your wastegate won't be closed properly so will prob be leaking boost
