So like mine then??

1995 JDM WRX with Z4 ecu, and Walbro.

Will be having a ESL daughterboard to map the Z4 ecu, having twin maps, and keeping the original safety features.

The Z4 stays in there, and is mapped. Its NOT chipped, the parameters are changed, so yes and no

If you want to get technical then yea your right, but the OP was of the opinion HIS car couldn't be mapped at all when infact it can quite easily without the need for a standalone expensive ecu.
So to answer the first question, no he does not need to change his ecu.

Totally agree
The esl is around £550-£600 fitted and mapped, other options include the Power FC at around the same cost when purchased second hand then comes the simtek ect

Just to add more for the OP, fitting the fmic without getting it mapped will not make much difference at all to performance, it will need mapping to see good gains, If its fitted without being mapped it would make good practise to get it on a RR to check fuelling as it will be adding more air to the mixture leaning it out a tad, better safe than sorry

Exactly, yes you are rightin that its unmappable, but fitted the ESL makes it mappable. Stop being so pedantic lol, he can book it in with a mapper and get it done, without the hefty bill of a standalone, all keeping the standard safety features and cold start of the standard ecu and with twin maps. And looking at their facebook page antilag has started to be finished.

Mine is running standard ECU, standard injectors, and all I have done is fit the FMIC and a cone filter, I would advise fitting a new pump and a small scoop for the cone filter (mine wa £30).

Nope, but a gas analyser when driven and fuelling under boost was and I quote slightly on the rich side so fine.

And I tend to drive it like a granny anyways. Will deffo be getting it mapped, as I have these to fit.
