I built and fitted a new engine for a 2005 STI early this year, it had an sc46 fitted and it wasn't bad at all for a big turbo.

If lag is your worry, get the "twin-scroll billet" version.

Have you considered the smaller younger brother of the SC46? The SC42?

Slightly smaller so will give less power than the SC46, but slightly quicker spool, thats what Scoobyclinic told me, and thats what I went for, its great with no more noticeable lag than the orginal VF35.

I was going for the sc46 but scoobyclinic told me I would be a lot happier with the sc42 for a road car. My car makes full boost around 3700rpm.

I'm running the 46 and am very happy with it , 1.8 bar @ @ 5.5 k and holds lovely , hitting 1.3 by 3.5-4k

Had the 42 for a short while and was slightly quicker spool but just a bit down on the power I was looking for at the time .

was great for low down torque, and pulled hard. loved it at the time. sure it peaked at 1.4bar down to 1.35 but put a grin on my smiler everytime. couldnt fault it atall

Is that really a 42 & not a 46? I didn't think they could make that sort of power.
