My windscreen has a massive crack in and needs to be replaced.
I rang my insurance yesterday to sort this out and they put me through to AutoGlass. Spoke to the guy there and seemed pleasent enough, said somebody would call me back in a couple of hours to arrange an appointment.
Never heard anything back 5 hours later so rang them again, said the same thing that id be called back within a couple of hours...still no call as of this morning.
Is this the norm for AutoGlass? Anybody else used them?
Cheers

Tbh mate there's not much of an alternative any more, auto glass are the biggest now I think.
There are 1 man bands out there, and auto windscreens are just about still trading.
Mine was replaced by auto windscreens, but I requested them through my insurance as I used to work for them so had a pretty good chance I would know the bloke that came out.
Only problem with this was that I had to pay more than my glass excess as I didn't use the insurance approved repairer![Suspicious](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/Suspicious.gif)
Where abouts in North Wales are you mate!
I think the main autoglass depot is on river lane in saltney just outside Chester

In that case mate, just take the car to their depot, they will more than likely have the glass in stock and do it in the depot.
The front screens are bonded in and most of the fitters will refuse to fit them in damp weather anyway, you will get a much better job if its done inside

I wouldn't touch them, use the AA instead:

TX.
PS Last time I used Autoglass they put in some cheap sh*t windscreen rather than original equipment. Their screen cracked again within the week. They refused to acknowledge their cheap nasty product so I had to make another claim on my insurance this time using the AA who installed an OE screen. It's been fine ever since ...

As far as I'm aware mate you can use whoever you like.
Take your insurance certificate with you and they will tell you if their able to direct bill your insurance.
This is what I did, but a month later a got a bill from my insurance company for £35, when I called them to ask why they said it was administration fees due to me not using their approved repairer

My other car (VW Passat) got a crack in the screen a few years ago.
I did it through my insurance at £60 I think it was, but sadly it was a chocolate screen was fitted not genuine VW. I did know this at the time, and I think you can pay extra for a genuine screen, but didn't invisage any problems.
I don't know what was on the inside of the screen they put in, but I just couldn't clean it off, and the windscreen wasn't fitted correctly, with a different gap running along the top / roof line.
As luck would have it, that one got cracked before I did anything about it, then got a proper screen from work (VW) and took it to a place to fit.
I couldn't be doing with the hassle with going through insurance again - I know it cost me more, but what the hell!

Every time I have used Autoglass there has been some kind of problem. Turning up with the wrong screen, inferior screens, not turning up at all, fitting badly, not matching the tints of the windows already in the car etc. Shower of **** but they were always friendly, lol
