Default Cold Start Issues

The car has been fine up to yesterday; when starting from cold the engine turns over for 5-10 seconds then starts and is very lumpy, some times it does don start and i have to re prime again via switching off and attempt a restart.

it used to start on the button and the cold start kicked in and reved at 1500rpm then dropped as the engine warmed up.

Is there a cold start valv on 03 bug STI or could this be another issue?

Once the car is warm starts first time and runs fine at speed and on boost, could this ve plugs/cold start/fuel-fuel filter etc??

Thanks.

Mine is currently doing that and I was told it is the coolant temp sensor. It's getting changed now so will see if it solves it. Not expensive to do either

Do you use yours for short journeys. As most know the Alternator in the Scoobs is a smart alternator one. If you run around short journeys the battery may not be charging. Leave the heater on low or leave sie lights on when going out for a drive. This will enable the Alternator to charge the battery. Its probably only really more noticable now due to the cold weather and the battery having to work a bit hard to crank the engine.

Been told this is the dash temp gauge sensor? not the ECU temp sensor, can this be confirmed.

Cheers

No long trips every day over 100 miles, the battery is OK and no issue with charging.

According to the schematics this is for the dash gauge not the ECU collant sensor, this one has plug with two wires.

Just attempted to start the car which has been parked up since 9am this morning and same thing.
The car turns over for for quite a few seconds then bup bup bup then on 1500 revs as normal, switch of and restarts fine no issues (still cold) this must be another issue?
Any advice.
Cheers

Do you mean fuel type? or air or fuel priming issue?
The pump primes and when started then switched off no issues?
Weird one???
