timing belt kit question

Default timing belt kit question

alright want to replace my timing belt which is well over due but was`nt sure what to get as kits start from around 175 to 215 on ebay that ive seen just wondered what differents would be or are they all pretty much the same thanks ian

did mean is there any differents in quality or are they all same if i buy cheaper one is it gonna go in 5000 miles lol

You get what you pay for mate!
Put it this way, I was quoted £145 just for the belt alone (genuine)

Personaly i would not skimp on a timing belt mate, buy a gates kit or simlar as if it goes it will **** the engine up.

Just had mine done, kit from Import Car Parts; uprated Gates belt, pulleys and tensioner all good quality £178 plus tax, very happy

+1 thats where mine came from but i also had a roger clark motorsport water pump too but cant find it on there site now

its not a VAG group car so the water pumps tend to last years not the months they seem to last and always stay in 1pce after a belt change also................

at most they need a belt kit but not always and the service recomendation for tensioners/pulleys is actually "inspect and replace if required"

No one at my local Subaru has ever seen a failed water pump. Glad i got the kit 3 bearings had slight play, also light scoring on the belt...might be worth buying front crankshaft oil seal for the few quid that it costs, you may not need it though.

thanks all been on that import site found a dayco 6 piece kit for £178 is dayco any good lol

found the gates one £215 may go for that one as seems to be a good choice
