Default looking to buy a Scoob

Hi, i'm looking into getting a blob eye STI, when I read about them I see a very reliable car but high running costs, what does it mean by that? regular servicing etc?, i'll literally be putting 1000-2000 miles on it a year as it's not a daily driver... what would one require in terms of maintenence as not being used all the time? just yearly oil change?

also when do timing kits usually need replacing? and anything I need to look out for when viewing?

thanks, Olly

hey, welcome to sn

they are great cars got mine in july and love every part of it!! i would say just keep servicing as to subaru recommendation 10k miles or 1 year! i find the dealer service reasonable, i paid £560 for a full service major service fluids/filter!!

timing belts is 50k miles or 60 months! mine was done just before i got it but subaru quoted me £350 all in with a small service!

just look out for genaral condition, service history, make sure it drives nice

Hiya,

Good choice on car. You also have to remember to use the "posh" petrol, which is about 4-5p a litre more expensive. Also fuel economy isnt too great. I have seen figures range from 9mpg - 30mpg, depending on how you drive.

But if you are only going to be doing small miles then this prob wont matter too much. Just have fun with it.

Yeah agree on fuel it varies on how it's driven, for me on an average week of 70 miles or so I get 20 mpg, driven at speedlimit at all time, but giving it a squirt to get there quickly
