Does anyone know if its possible to fit newage sti blue seats into a classic 1997 type r ? If so , is it a straight fit or is modification needed ?

They fit but they look to big in a classic think u have to change the seat rails to classic ones to make them sit abit lower I wouldn't bother tho they just don't look rite .

Just done it to my dads car. The drivers seat is fine as the height is adjustable. Apparently the passenger seat sits high and isn't adjustable. I'm 6ft and i fit in it with ease and loads of head room. His car is white and i was worried it was going to look wrong but it doesn't. It's awesome and really comfy.

The back seats need a bit of adjusting but noting too difficult. Don't be put off, it's made him really happy.

I had some in mine, straight swop, didn't swop the rails as they bolted right in. Had to swop the seatbelt anchor over that was all.
I do think they look the part, and far better support wise than the old seats. But even with the drivers seat on it's lowest position, it was noticably higher than the old seat. In the end i just couldn't live with it, i felt like i was perched on it rather than being in it, and found that the old seat was at the preferred height for the classic, so had them rebolstered and retrimmed in a similar style to the v7.

dont forget the type r is a 2 door, and the newage seats might not work as you need access for rear passengers,im not sure but worth finding out.

That looks really nice !! Do you feel that the drivers seat is higher when at its lowest point compared to the original ?

I have Newage STI seats in my RA and have always thought you sat higher than my old Classic.

However, reading this thread I have just found out that the STI seat is adjustable

I think I will be having a look around under the seat tonight trying to find a height adjuster!!! It may not be on its lowest setting.

Let us know if you can lower it pal and if you can then does it feel lower than the original ?

I take it that you can do this the other way around too?
i.e. classic seats into a new age.
I just wondered because I always preferred the classic seats,
the new age ones are a bit too comfy for my liking.

Hmm I might consider getting some if they sit higher, could be potentially easier to get into for me, 6ft 2 with arthritis starting to play up and im only 31! Grr!

Do the rear seats fit without modification? And what about door cards? As I imagine they will not fit, my orig door cards in grey would look odd. Did any uk impreza's have just black door cards?

Cheers
