If you don't want the 2.5 your only option is a jdm import, don't think many are around though. You could find the latest hawk spec c, a few we're registered very late but again not easy to find

The problem is that from 06 onwards the uk version Impreza used a 2.5 engine that as you well know has a history of HG and ringland failure so you either have a choice from the following-
Buy a uk hatchback with a forged rebuild already done
Buy a JDM version that has the superior 2.0 engine and much better spec
Or
Just buy a low mileage Hatchback Sti that is still within its 3 yrs take it back period

If you want a 09-10 plate then you will have to accept the engine horror stories
As said all UK 06 onwards cars had the 2.5 so there's not a lot you can do other than hold out for a jdm sti as they had the 2.0 but they are very rare
To avoid the 2.5 you will have to go UK 01-06 for a newage 2.0, or classic if the age thing is not an issue or lastly a jdm
Other thing is there are plenty of 2.5's running absolutely fine, I'm not saying the 2.5 isn't without its issues but you never here the good stories only the horror ones. If you're that concerned hold out for one from a dealer with 12 months warranty or buy one with a forged build from a reputable garage.

Thanks very much guys for the great
Advice you have given me.
Are there garages that specialise
In the wrx sti hatch that have had the rebuild.
Or are there places in the uk who bring
The imports in are they a good option
If so were do I look???
Done the norm piston heads auto trader .
Thanks again Simon...

How about this one:

A Spec C Type 25 Hawk. And I believe the seller has an excellent reputation on here too.
