In my search for a new car, a friend & fellow Subaru Impreza owner suggested a classic 3 door (type R?) with a newage engine and 6 speed box fitted? I presume someone has done this but I couldn't find any information using the search function?
How much would it cost for this to be done roughly at a specialists? Is there much work or is it just drop in the engine, box loom and drive shafts etc or do I need to fabricate new mounts etc
What's the newage gearbox like? My classic currently sits at 3400rpm at 70mph and presumably drinking more go go juice
Cheers for any replies for my research

I have a Type R with a 6 speed DCCD 'box. It's generally straight forward but you do need all the right bits - driveshafts, correct length prop shaft, diff. etc, mine was fitted by Bucks Subaru - with the aid of Richard aka Fiesta Boy on here. There was no modifying of the transmission tunnel IIRC.

Ecutek is not an ECU its Software developed for remapping/re-flashing the OEM ECU, You can not run AVCS on a WRX ECU for example(Exc JDM V7+) as the ECU does not have the undersatnding or hardware to run it so i doubt very much you can run a classic one on it either, I had a newage wrx and swapped to a full long engine with AVCS heads and if you want it functioning you need the ECU
