Default Are most car dealers liars?

Went to see an sti that was described as very good condition 11 months MOT. Spoke to dealer before travelling over 3 hours to see car. When go there the car was very tatty, rusty engine bay, cracked rear bumper, paint pealing off arch spats and wait for it.......... no MOT on car!

The MOt was a god send as when we got it to be MOT'd on the ramp every item under the car was rusted up (54 widetrack)

The next car I was going to see looked like a wide track but was sold as an 03 plate. I mailed the garage to ask if year was mistake or inf act had it just had widetrack bumper and spats added as people do on here.

No response so rang him - the 12 images of the car are not of that car but of a wide track of the same colour. Because the images were not good due to poor weather they used 12 images from another car. No explanation of this in advert - and also why include 12 images!

Have had enough - buying from someone on here who cares and no other.

Should hav known better as my last 2 Subaus were bought from honest members on Scoobynet.

I've got to admit, I saw a few blobs at "dealers" and non of them were the "IMMACULATE" "PRIDE AND JOY OF PREVIOUS OWNER" or "SHOWROOM CONDITION" as described in the Ad. Luckily I got a private sale eventually which was exactly as described.

I'd be seriously pissed off if I drove 3hours to see one of these lemons.

Standards of individuals differ vastly. Not every car i have is "like new". You have to appreciate they are used cars and if they have 50k or 60k on the clock they have obviously been used on the road for this period which will result in some wear, some wear more than others?

The car in question was taken in by my business partner. It was a straight car with no "major" issues. What i knew of the car i clearly stated to you prior to viewing. It's quite obvious after meeting you, you were looking for a pristine condition sti. I would associate the condition you were looking for more with a new car or nearly new maybe 2-3 years old as opposed to the 8-9 year old car which you came to see. Had i have known your standards were impeccably high i would have stated the car may not be for you.

I felt sympathy towards your situation/journey and even returned you some petrol money for your journey which no dealer would have thought of entertaining let alone offer.

You may have to stretch your budget towards the 10k mark as opposed to the 7k mark according to what you are looking for. I really hope you find what you are looking for and all the best in your search.
