Default svx ej33 or ej20 with 2.3 stroker

haha oh dear MAJOR EDIT!!!!!!

ok guys im getting to the final stages f planning my engine conversion and im now toying with an svx ej33 and putting a 3.6 stroker kit on it or the ej20 closed deck and stroking that to 2.3 litres. the ej20 is already turbocharged so thats money saved but the ej33 is not so naturally i would be uprating internals and forvcing induction on her giving gains of anything from 360bhp to 700bhp dependqnt on intercooler, chrger ewtc where as with the ej20 i would only be looking at a max of 500bhp after thousnads of pounds

so what are your thoughts??

I really think you need to think this through properly.

Have you any idea of how quick a 500-600bhp car really is?
I ask because you can't stroke the EJ20 to 2.3 litres so that would suggest a lack of knowledge. I dont mean that in a patronising manner. But I suggest you arrange to go out in a genuine 500bhp impreza and make your decision from there.

You can then make an informed decision on which way to go. I dare say the EG33 route is not for you. There's an awful lot of work involved.

through an american company, i will locate them but you CAN buy a 2.1 or 2.3 stroker kit. im not one of these forum trolls genuinely full of complete **** and i do have an idea what i am on a bout. i take slight offence.

No offence intended but your first post has several technical holes in it.

Perhaps you can stoker a 2.0L to a 2.3 but its not a combination I would like to try. Unless they are reffring to a 2.3 using the EJ22T block which has been tried and tested and is the way to go.

My advice, forget the six cylinder full stop.

2.1 is plenty capable of 600bhp and beyond. The question is have you ever been out in genuine 500bhp+ Impreza?

Daz... Stew from TFS Racing's drag car is a 2.0 CDB 2.3 stroker and has been running over 650bhp for quite a few years now

83mm Crank?

If they were that good they'd have been done to death over here.

That's the first one I've heard of.

its not done often cause of the cost! the kit as far as i can find comes fom america and without import tax is over $3000 alone! not a cost effective measure most will shy away from. the 6 cylinder has potentials to have serious gains IF the correct internals are applied to the suggested mods this i know. however i was looking for a generalk consenus on this and perhas some info/advice from those that may have already done similar

I've built several 500-600bhp engines. Unless your aiming for north of 700 bhp then forget the six pot.

A 2.1 using 2.0L CDB or a 2.35 using a 2.2 CDB are hard to beat. If you want 600 then a 2.1 will be the ticket. If you want more than that then a 2.35 good for 800ish.

Do you know how much power you want? I keep going back to this but have you ever been out in a genuine 500 + bhp impreza?

To build a good EG33 you will need very deep pockets, i have built a couple, much better going 2.1 or 2.35, much more cost effective, as Daz has stated you need a horsepower target to work to.

Well if you're starting from scratch budget about £30k. That's with doing most of it yourself.
Double it if someone else builds it.

Start small, build up your power with your knowledge and driving skills. Power is like a drug, you will want more and more, but that's the fun of it!

Good plan.

Best advice above is to take a ride in a big power scooby. Or at least take a ride in a 350bhp scoob to start with!

Good luck with the divorce!
