Default New member and New to scoobys!

Hi everyone probably haven't posted in the correct place so not a great first impression!! My names Jordan im 19 and I am now a proud owner of my very first subaru impreza. It's a 1998 2.0L non turbo wrx look alike. Love it to pieces after my 120 mile drive home from Southampton, took it to a mechanic straight away and was told to get 10mm ht leads, a uel header and a decat pipe to get a true scooby rumble. Seen as I'm new to all this (previous car was an Audi) what does this all mean? Is it worth getting these things what sort of benefits will I gain from them and also how much would it cost averagely. Sorry to sound like a noob to the forum but I am!

Any advice and help would be greatly appreciated!

Cheers guys

Jordan

Hello I'm new to Scoobynet also but not to subarus. The unequal length headers are what causes the Subaru burble. Not too sure about the HT leads and the decat exhaust will just make it louder but thats not a bad thing

Lets have a look at some pics mate , as above the header will give good burble . I have standard set up except for back box (which is a little loud) and does sound pretty good. I would get a good filter or if u prefer get and induction kit and cold air feed . Tbh there's not much else you can do engine wise to a non turbo except supercharge but again to much money and its not worth throwing all the money in to it (may as well get a turbo ) .

There is a little more involved than just dropping a wrx engine in it ..a lot has to be changed which is not worth it in the long run

Welcome to the site. I'm sure you'll find it very useful.

Doubtless you're already fully aware of this, but don't forget to tell your insurers about any mods to the car or else you won't be insured.

What you need is the wrx import interior which I just so happen to have lying around :-)

You can put Borla headers on there but be careful of going too loud because it gets tinny due to no turbo because a turbo acts as a silencer.

Probably not because the subject has been done to death and it's simply not worth the effort, everyone thinks it's an easy conversion but it requires the loom, engine, gearbox, clutch, diff, ancillaries, turbo, intercooler, exhaust, brakes, suspension, wheels etc but you'd be surprised how often this question comes up.
