Could this possibly be a standard STI performance?
I own a '05 STI Blob and found a video online made by the previous owner:
The history of the car is that Subaru UK have confirmed that the car never had PPP fitted, the previous owner confirmed he never had the car modded - only other owner was a main dealer (from whom I have not been able to speak to yet).
However, the video shows the car running to 60 in well under 5.5 seconds. In fact every time I time the video (using my stopwatch and not pressing stop until 65mph to account for speedo error) I'm getting 4.5 seconds.
Now given that I don't have timing gear and am not going to launch the car while holding a video camera this is my best record of the cars performance to date!
Do we think the car is already running 300bhp and is there anyway to find out without putting it on a rolling road?
PS - no comments about the state of the clutch after that launch!!!!!!!

You maybe able to find out without rolling road (i dont know how accurate), but for a small cost just have it on a rolling road and the operator can also check boost and AFR while on the dyno.

Although Prodrive claimed the PPP would give 0-60 in 4.7sec in the real world you would need to be absolutely brutal to get near to that. To achieve a genuine 4.5sec you would need considerably more than what the PPP could provide! Of course, you could be lucky and have one of those rare ones that just seem to be that bit quicker than standard. Is that clip actually running in real time?

Well of course there is always that possibility, and while I have no reason to doubt the former owner we can't rule out a cheeky speeding up of the clip by him.
Interesting to know that a PPP won't get to 60mph in the Prodrive quoted 4.5secs.

I don't think 0-60 times is a very good way of comparing car's performance.
Prodrive state my RB320 when standard will do 0-62 in 4.8 secs, some jurnos claimed 4.5 secs. Thing is my car can not achieve 60 mph in second gear so 2 gear changes are needed to achieve that speed. Other cars may achieve a similar 0-60 time but do it with only one gear change because of a taller second gear. I think 0-100mph would be a better indicator.

yup so 5 mph short of the 62mph (100kph). That means we have to do 2 gear changes yet still achieve it in 4.8 secs (std official). Another car may look like the same performance with 0-62 in 4.8 yet achieved it in second gear so only one gear change. In fact in real life ours was quicker because it did the same but included was the time wasted with the extra shift. That's why i say 0-62 times should be taken with a pinch of salt when comparing cars.
