Default Best pistons and conrods

Having bought a CDB 2.0l block ready for engine build that I want to put into my track/sprint car I want to know what pistons and conrods would be best .

Looking for power round the 500-600 range full race spec

You'll not go far wrong with Mahle pistons and the Enginetuner I beam rod, give us a call for prices.

Agreed with Banny about the Real Street Performance, speak with Trevor

You want just 2.0L or you will consider 2.1L?

2.1L will be better choice and with right spec will be great choice

But I would contact too Martyn and Alan@EngineTuner about the prices and from this I would go

We are run Cosworth Pistons, but they're now not available for 2.1L,but are available for 2.0L or 2.5L,rods depends on budget K1,Pauter or Carrillo,Cosworth etc

Lee

What power you are looking to run,do you want run rotated setup or standard location turbo?

Scoobyclinic GT30 .63A/R should be best bet for nice 550-600bhp and good spool up on the 2.1 or 2.35L,this turbo we are looking to get

As I said speak to Martyn and Alan@Engine Tuner about the prices on their combo,Real Street Performance is good company which have great price

First time ive heard of RSP but seem very good on price is there anything else i should consider for my build ie best head gaskets, oil pump, is standered water pump ok ?

Im going to run avcs heads with my simtek been told with a bit of wiring this will be ok, any particular cams these should have want to do it right first time but concentrated on building the car where it is today so a whole new area for me the engine .

Tim knows his stuff im sure but gathering info from the experts as youll agree

Hi Lee

Speak with your engine builder, what he recommends, but for Headgasket I would choose Cosworth,11mm Oil pump, standard water pump is OK

Particular cams, depends on heads, but JDM Big port heads will be best option, just please check for cracks around the spark plugs on the Big port heads or any 2.0L AVCS heads

Cams in the JDM heads are great and they should be OK at this level,if you are looking for better cams I would choose over BC(Brian Crower) Kelford or GSC/Cosworth.If you are will be going upgrading the cams I would upgrade springs(Supertech,Kelford etc,I wouldn't use BC) and valves(Supertech)

Aggressive cams will push the power band up top, not ideal for road use. Some cossie 11mm headstuds would be worth it, or if your pockets can stretch to 14mm, then that would be even better.

My icon valves was £39 tax so about £80 some courier don't pick up on the tax I had to pay via ups so try FedEx you might get away with it

Just a thought I have friend that has a container come over every 4-6 weeks it get delivered in Chelmsford in Essex if there was enough of you I could get it sent to him and and then post from there to save the tax not 100% sure this is a good idea yet as I would have to sort it and could be a lot of work for me but its a thought

technically you pay import duty and VAT on any commercial delivery into the UK (you may occassionally get lucky but no guarantees as its one of Customs little bugbears at the mo)
the % duty varies depending on the exact nature of the goods, but on automotive components is normally around 5%, so with duty and VAT an easy guide is to add 25% to the overall cost (including shipping) and you wont be far away from the actual cost you would pay......

Thanks lads, so if i was to spend say a £1000 on the site, i'd be looking at paying £1250 in total after import tax, almost makes it not worth it in the end then as the same deals can be had this side of the water. Why dont we have to pay import tax on stuff we get from china etc?

You gotta love this w4nk country

you "should" pay import tax regardless of where it comes from (all business's do as its very obvious to Customs whats going where) - like most things some slip thro' but that doesn't mean its right

It all about the exchange rate really I was quote £300 puss vat for the same valve set I got them for $299 delivered plus £39 import tax so with a rate of $1.59 to the pound it works out roughly £250 as to £360 so over 30% saving for me.and to add most of the garage owners are buying in much the same way good profit ? Not really as the taxman get the tax when they import the bits and again when they sell the bits to us taxman £99 garage owner £50.

We must be the only country where the government constantly are ****ting on us all and thinking up a new way to empty our pockets rant over

why? because there's a possibility of getting goods for a fraction of the cost without our government ripping us a new ar5ehole at the earliest avaliable oppurtunity, i say good on everyone who's done it, it's about time someone got something for nothing.

We all do it at a risk. Exposing is not the best option. Who knows, anyone can file a report
