Default Problem with Prosport boost gauge

I am having a problem with my Prosport boost gauge, in that it has just started flashing on and off and giving no reading at all.
The car is an 07 Hawkeye Sti and is still running normaly.
All the conections appear to be ok, except when I touched the electric conection on the sender, the gauge worked for a short while, though it was giving irregular readings. The conection appeared to be ok so could it be that the sender itself is at fault, also am I correct in saying that the sender has a filter in it, and if so could this be the problem.
I would be gratefull for your thoughts on this matter.

Prosport gauges are widely known to have dodgy connectors. That's where I'd start.

Yes the filter is fitted, but was wondering what the white thing on the sender is.

Thanks jura for your reply,s cant send pic, but if you go to Interior on the
Tech. forum, and bring up the Gauge Fitting Guide by scoobyc, then go to the 9th pic. down you can see the white circle on the sender, it may just be a paper lable, but under it you can feel a raised circular ridge.I will try to take a closer look in the daylight later.
