RIP 2
I have been a member for some years but have rarely contributed 'cos of work commitments. So I really don't know where and what to post to.
I have, in the last 12 hours totalled my beloved mfy 96/7 'Classic' Scooby which started life as a 2000 Turbo. It was ( Sniff, Sniff) a gem. A UK car and the shell was unbent.
It had various improvements and transplants and was very, very Fast.
It had just been redialled and had a JDM STI engine fitted and was going Soooooo well. that I had trouble in keeping up with the gear changes at full 'Wuff'
It was on a cold day with dense air, with full boostadjusted upwards, on a blind rise which I knew well, and the road was clear and it was dry as a bone and with no ice, I just lost it.
I think I was airborne with no Pilots licence and not trained for aerobatics.!
I got it way out of line. Colin Mac. may have been able to catch it. I came no where near it, and was completely out of my depth It is a complete wreck.
Luckily the engine stopped when it flipped first or third time so it is still good as are most of the running gear so should be able to recover some dosh.
BUT, the thought of life without a Scooby is UNTHINKABLE. So I am looking for another 'Classic' so someone's Xmas has come early.
Looking through what passes for a Log Book these days, I see I bought it on 28/02/97, when Scooby's were not well known and they were having trouble selling this one. One test drive and I had my Cheque book out quicker than the Mrs with her CC.in a Sale!
So its been nearly 16yrs since I bought a another car
So advice please where to begin.?
As long as the shell is unbent and relatively rust free and not full of Kids Puke or Dog **** I am up for anything as long as its 'OLD' 'cos I cant afford much; Wife, Children Dogs and parrots to support.!,
God it was a cracker of a car! The only car that I have ever averaged 100+ in an hour down on 'then' new roads in Southern Spain, way back. It even had my own personalised No plate - Not that anyone new it. My wife's initial and age followed by FGM. - translated into '****ing Good Motor'!
So someone make my day please
It has to be a Southern car 'cos of the salt and be shunt free.
E mail me on Mizzenport@hotmail.com or call me in Spain on 0034 952 111 292.
I and troop are resting at the moment on holiday!!!! And will return the call to save you the expense

My other car is a little 92 Suzuki Cappuccino putting out 130BHP at the Rear wheels but it is a bit cramped!

Shame about the car, good thing is that you are alive to tell us about it.
I've been airborne once in a car, it was an MG and on an ex-RAF airfield outer road that had a hump back bridge over a canal, landed all square and put my right foot down as soon as I had touchdown. Great fun at the time (I was 19) but a bad landing might have had a different outcome.
So..good luck with your hunt for a replacement car.

Sorry to hear it, I'm sure you will find what you want. However, that's not airborne, this is airborne.. https://www.scoobynet.com/members-ga...-must-see.html

At least you've walked away from it.......
Don't worry about salt if you buy a UK classic, the undersealing is pretty good.
The only bits that go regularly are the front and rear bumper support bars, which can be replaced for about £40 the pair, and the rear wings at the top of the wheelarch.
