My last car was written off with similar, perhaps less, damage than that after being hit from behind - are you handy enough at welding to replace that back section yourself? Then of course you'll always have an accident repaired car recorded as a cat c or d.

Would say that price is a little high IMHO, you can pick a straight hawk up for 3k if you look hard enough, it is worth it but not in this day of age

I was thinking similar, if it ends up costing you 2500 for the car plus repair and a similar undamaged car would be only 500 to 1k more... I know what I'd do.

yes very true but do you think you would be pushing 3 to 3.5k with same mileage for a 05 at that price.
seen plenty of blob eyes on 03 plate at 3 to 3.5k but there totaly standard looking and just dont look that good to be honest but on the other hand its a straight car so which way do you go?

The way to work it IMO is take a straight one of the same age, mileage, condition etc get a few prices take an average and that car needs to work out at roughly a third cheaper to make it worth while, I personally wouldn't even touch it at that price, especially if it was to pull a profit, not so bad if it was for personal use but should still be looking at a third cheaper as a reflection of time effort etc

yeah think your right i seem to do the talking my self into it rather out of it. i really like the look of it would just be for my self to use, if i could pull close to my money back when i came to sell i think i would be happy, i just dont know much about them and there prices thats wy i ask you guys because i know i will get genuine thoughts and comments, but think i could have this on the road for around £3200 thanks for your input guys

If you could get it for 500 quid less then yeah IMO it would be worth it but not at that price as previously said good straight blob eyes can be had for same money!

Have you considered your insurance premiums for a Cat D?

A CAT C/D car shouldn't cost more to insure, if it does, try another insurer. Value is obviously effected though.

i've just paid £3,600 for an 05 reg WRX and that was cheap, most were £4k up

if you can repair it yourself and want to keep it for a year or 2, if you can knock it down a bit, i think it's worth it

05 reg onward has different interior and centre console

It doesn't take much to write a car off these days. Got to be worth a punt because the rest of it looks mint!
