Default Head gasket

Hi guys a few weeks ago I bought a hawkeye sti. I love the car I was shocked at how quick they actually are. But the car is now in the garage having the head gasket changed as it was constantly over heating when accelerating hard. I'm just wondering because it's happened once is it likely to go again soon when it's fixed

If its done correctly, ie heads skimmed & block with decent gaskets, & arp studs it will last a good while, probably longer than it has to date, depending on use.

If the job is done well with quality parts then it should last for a long long time. i hope a proper diagnosis was done before it went it for the work as just over heating when going for it could be caused by a number of things.

Did the car have the problem when you bought it? Did you buy it from a main dealer? Any gaps in the service history?

Unlucky problem it's a rarer fault on the Hawkeye if the anecdotal figures off forums are to be believed.

I'm sure it has been I've only heard good things about them. I was going to get it up to scooby world for the performance pack but I'll just have to wait now to see if I have to pay or if to will be covered by the warranty I took out.

Had the garage on the phone earlier the gasket was ok so it's been sent off to get checked to see if the cylinder head is cracked. Going to cost quite a bit. I only bought the car in November. Spoke to the garage who sold me the car earlier and all they said the car was fine when it left them. does anybody know where I stand legally with the garage who sold me the car. Also does anyone know how much for a new cylinder head or can you get them repaired. Thanks

Seen a few Hawkeye heads crack through the exhaust port in to the water jacket, you may need to bolt it to a block to find it, i had 1 that i knew was leaking, but could'nt find it under normal pressure testing, so bolted it to a scrap block & it leaked, slackened off the bolts next to the leak & it stopped, if you need a head i have brand new ones & used.

Brand r/h or l/h head with cam caps, just requires your valve train fitting £250 each plus post.

Cheers mate as soon as the garage get back to me I'll let you know. I was going to use the money to get some more power out of it but looks like this repair bill is going to cost a small fortune

My HG went 10 days out of my warranty, when i checked all the paperwork it had also been replaced 20k before, they used a standard gasket then, i put in a cosworth gasket and uprated studs, cost over1k, thing is it should be solid then and (touch woood) wont ever go again
