The price of fuel in my area has jumpred 2p a litre this week from 74 to 76 how much more do we have to take. I wonder if the fuel lobby brigade will start again. This can only be bad news for Mr Blair as he will be expecting my vote.

People seem to be generally apathetic about this. WHY?
At this rate, now all the fuss has died down, we'll soon be back to penny a week rises.
This probably because the poor souls it affects most are too troubled by the foot and mouth outbreak to mount any resistance. My heart goes out to them.
Perhaps I'm too cynical....nah.

Yep.

I noticed it tooo. One moment it's 72.5/l in Edinburgh and the next thing it's 75.5! and the very next day, I read that it's to go up another 2/3p!!! Maybe I should have bought that Micra after all! or then again...

Personally wouldn't put supermarket petrol in mine......

Fuel price increase this time was not government induced.... Gordon froze petrol tax this time.

Whilst I will confess to voting conservative, remember that it was our conservative freinds who introduced the petrol accelerator.

OPEC reduced oil production a few weeks ago, because the price of a barrel had fallen too low. Less supply, same demand equals prices go up.

Just as an aside, watched a biography on Bill Gates last night, and the talk about breaking up Microsoft because it was a Monopoly. Makes you wonder what OPEC is, if not a price fixing cartel!!!!!

Yes but it was New Labia that incresed the rate of acceleration. Overall tax on petrol went from c50% when they came into power, to over 80% now

You can't avoid it.. If someone invented a car to run on tap water the goverment would slap a decent tax on water.

You lot are lucky it has been around 79p in Sevenoaks in kent where I am for weeks !

Mind you having a family and a huge food bill the 4p off vouchers from sainsburys saves over £2 a fill up in the Girlfriends cossie !

So how bigs the tank on a scoob and what sort of MPG do you get with a chipped one !

I was going to start using super, so I started comparing the prices and availability. Now Im not going to bother, it seems to vary from +1 to +12!! pence per litre more, and availability seems patchy to say the least.

Yes it was OPEC that have caused the latest increase, but its down to the yanks as well. Demand was falling so OPEC cut supply, just as the yanks decide that their eserves were getting a little low, so they start buying a lot more on the market.

As lots of farmers and hauliers have said recently, if it was not for the foot and mouth crisis they would be protesting at the pathetic cut in the budget.
This time it's the oil companies.
Filled up this week at a BP garage and UL had gone up to 76.9p and SUL 91.9p eek!
