Default STI Underbody Pics

Everytime i compare an EVO and a STI on a lift i think the STI is made very cheap.
On an EVO you see everything made of aluminium and alles bushed are Uniball from the factory.

I have seen all Imprezas 93-2007 even a RA-R from underneath.
They look all about the same just minor changes.

I have never seen a Harch or 2011 saloon on a lift. Did the change anything?

Regards

Ive owned 3 of them. 4,6, 6rs
And 7 stis

He evo is built more rigid, massive

Maybe this is the reason why it is always bit heavier to its sti counterpart.

I think the whole suspension is far superior than subarus.

Are you sure that it has not got anything to do with all the electronics that help the Evo go round the corner, Which the impreza does not have?

and the yaw pump that fails all the time.

im not so sure the suspension is superior at all and the imprezas engine and drivetrain will take far more abuse.

The only reason the ayc pump dies is because of salt.
The gaskets, housing isnt made for salt as they dont use it in japan.
Try to break a ayc pump which was never used in winter. I did 800laps on nurburgring, spa, zolder, many slaloms und other trackdays.with a 6gsr wihtout any problems.
The only problem is salt. Mitsubishi should have done sth to fix that from the 8 it was available everywhere inurope also.

The sti has all advantages. Low mounted engine. Symetrical layout. Good weight balance with gearbix behind the front axle and calipers mounted to the backside not front like evo.

A 6 rs has no ayc or acd and still is a much sharper car with very less understeer.

Try to bend the rear of front subframe with a ier. No problem
Try that on evo. Impossible.

Whats the advantage of alloy instead of steel?.
Alloy wont bent till it brakes. Steel does...

Using ally suspension parts and uniball would be much better.
When out of the factory the sti was ok with its fresh bushes etc.
But the older they get the more they flex.
Or have a look how mitsubishi and subaru fit the steering rack.
Another reason for making everything wobbly and unsharp.

I dismantle and build these cars for a long time now. There u can see the pros and cobs.
And tbh we havent seen one pro over an evo yet.

Wouldn't you be better off on MLR if you like the Evo more than the STi

+1 had a couple of evos and have to say i wouldnt say the mitsubishi is any better or worse than the impreza.

it may as you say be better built underneath but so what the impreza hardly falls apart and as for the yaw pump all very well but we do live in england and we do have salt on our roads and guess what mine failed

Totally different rear subframe/suspension setup. Now similar to Legacy and SH forester.

Front lower arms also changed...........

Yes but the 6 RS is a light weight version so would need to be compared to a similar spec car, This is a pretty good vid showing the different characteristics of the Impreza and Evo.

If I'm not mistaken the 2005 model Sti's had all their suspension components made from Aluminium.

Yes my jdm my05 has aluminium rear suspension links and aluminium front arms, although I think they were on my older one. The spec c ra has uprated rear joints to other cars, but at the end of the day the cars will always be compared and they both have good and bad points I chose subaru for lower running costs and spare parts prices. They seem to hold up to rust better than evos as well, but then if you went on MLR you would get a different answer.

I wasnt, i was pointing you to a video which compares a 7 RS to a Spec-C RA(V7), A nearer like for like comparison than comparing a lightweight 6RS to a normal impreza

Evo's were loads more expensive brand new, I got my 2005 Sti for £24k at the time, would have been looking £34k for a decent Evo, so i would expect them to be built in a more costly way.
