Default Newbie after advice

Hey all, 22 years old and finally been able to afford the insurance on a subaru...currently own a classic fiesta rs turbo bit itd time to go.. Im looking at a 2000 - 2005 version sti's. any pointers or tips to look out for on these that i need to know when looking?
Seen a couple one is quite heavily modded by andy forest and putting out 385bhp would this be reliable at this bhp or is it going to be trouble. Its a 2001 plate with 49000 miles.
Cheers

Blobeye wide track uk or Jdm 2004-2005 is your best bet. I've got a blob 53 plate but the other 2 have various improvements. Blob is better looking than the bug. Low mileage and fsh

Unless its been mapped stay away from the bug with 108k, the Andy Forrest fettled blob looks a good buy to me.

If your going for a modified impreza then double check the insurance. You say that you can now afford the insurance on a scooby, is this in its standard form i.e UK car wrx. The price can vary if its UK or JDM then again if its been performance enhanced (oh er missus) I would go for the blob one personally but I would double check the insurance figures first. Moley_WRX (Keith Michaels Insurance) on here is good for scooby quotes

With declaring mods on insurance it is only £60 more than a quote ive had for a standard one of £920. The blob eye one has had a facelift to make it blob eye was orginally bug eye being a 2001 plate am i right. Any way going to view at 2 anything to look for especially on that age 2001. Cheers

See if the facelift has been documented in pics, it may have been accident damaged and the front end replaced thereafter so have a look underneath at the crossmembers for signs of impact or bending.

I would aks for evidence of the mapping and output as its easy to quote these figures but not easy to visually see if it has been mapped.

At that mileage cambelt is due if not already done.

STI bugeye engines and boxes are strong but check the usuals like exhaust smoke, header tank etc

Good luck!
