When I bought my house it came with a large detatched asbestos garage.I had that removed and had a nice garage built in its place. That took a year to build but was so worthwhile. It was built with attic trusses so it has a room about 40 m2 above and 55m2 below. Its fully serviced, gas, electric, water etc.It has its own combi central heating system, houses washing machine, tumber car,gym and all my crap.Upstairs is a funroom complete with jacuzzu, shower thumping stereo 42" telly etc.The wife keeps it tidy up there.
Downstairs is my domain, its always a mess . Mostly I can barely squeeze my car in...it was built to house 2/3 cars.As I couldnt work due to the snow last week I decided to have a tidy up and build a cupboard to house my jetwash and compressor.....Its somewhat involving into a big job but after a week of working my nuts off its taking a bit of shape. To keep costs down I am using stuff thats kicking around here. Its not gonna be a 5 min job but I thought it may be fun to document it as it progresses....
Last week an hour or two after I decided to start..you can see how chaotic it is in here![](http://i930.photobucket.com/albums/ad145/busterbulldog/mess012_zps14145a38.jpg)
started building cupboard to house jetwash and compressor![](http://i930.photobucket.com/albums/ad145/busterbulldog/mess013_zps958657cf.jpg)
too snowy to put car outside

jetwash cupboard skimmed ..to the right I have built a tiny room for a toilet and 2 large cupboards..the combi that was there is now sited upstairs on the landing..yes my garage has a landing![Smile](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/smile.gif)
Plumbing put in place for jetwash..a single supply tap fed by hot and cold mixed with a thermostatic control valve. Also bought a 20metre extension and reel for the Karcher

How can you call it your domain with a washing machine and tumble dryer fitted - surely there should be banks of snap-on tool chests instead![Big Grin](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
I would love that much garage space

Now that's what you call a good size garage!
I was talking to my brother today about building one that would give me about a metre of free space on each side of the car.

its going in the skip...believe it or not it also housed a full sized pool table and 3 pinballs until 6 months back (sold to finance/make room for the hatchback). Will get one or 2 back once makeovers done ,designing in space for them.

Appliances bodged in temporary as wife was having washing machine withdrawl symptoms

bit more skimming today, car wash cupboard finished almost. Its strange adding storage /taking floorspace gives the impression of more room.Upstairs I removed the horrid shower cubicle and refitted the jacuzzi in its place as it was too hot and airless tucked low in the roofspace. My internets been playing up for a few days, yesterday I traced it to an underground cable break so had to reroute about 60metres of cable...garage has its own internet seperate from the house.

Jealous is a understatement.
Last year I was about to buy a house with a double garage and a giant shed (big enough for three cars), which I was planning to thump down and rebuild as a large workshop/garage with attic conversion.
Had it all budgeted, costed up selling the current house , stamp duty, moving, building the workshop etc....only for the vendor to pull the rug out from us on the sale![Cry2](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/cry2.gif)
Not seen a house like this since; i.e with enough ground, privacy that didn't need a fortune spending on the house itself; building a garage/workshop is enough of a project; can't be arsed with a whole-house renovation![Frown](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/frown.gif)
Ironically thats just what I'm having to do now, decided to stay put. I'm really dreading it - as I have no interest in messing about with houses (ironic as my dad was a builder), and its going to cost a fortune and a whole load of aggro for somthing that was already done ready for me to buy and move in. Thats all before I can even consider looking at the man cave, which bar the double garage will only be big enough for one car and a few bikes with no room to work on them, and have little roof space. Assuming I have enough money left.

Its been one of those jobs that gets put off and off but I have quite enjoyed myself, having a few hours today altering the electrics and hoping to skim 2 more cupboards.Once thats done I can start on the other side, all the wooden racking is going in the skip making way for another 2 large storage cupboards.Fancying this for the floor, anyone got it?
