Default OPINIONS ? WORTH SPENDING MONEY ON ?

hi im new to this site , just wanted some opinions . i have a 1995 wrx classic jdm saloon .
running 313bhp quite modified . closed deck engine .
recently scraped the front , then gears stopped engaging , then tax ran out , then insurance ran out and mot -_-

apart from that the car is mint , got the front resprayed . lots of receipts bill etc all mots.

is it worth spending all this money to get it back on road ??

and also the car seems to go into all gears but just revs doesnt move back or forward AA man said gear linkage , body repairer said needs a new gearbox -_- ...what could it be ??

thanks

If you like the car then why not get it repaired. Take it to a garage for a proper diagnosis then decide. TBH these are old cars now and quite cheap, so I base your decision on the general condition of your car, especially bodywork. Which ever car you have you'll need tax insurance, MOT etc so whilst it may be a big outlay you'd have to pay that also on another car.

Good ones will be worth more in time as rust takes hold and owners decide to break them.

It sounds to me that the only real thing you need to spend extra on is the gearbox. Tax and mot you would have to do for any vehicle anyway and you said you had the front done already.
Even if you wanted to sell it you would get more for it as a whole if the box is working ok. Unless you would go down the route of breaking it and selling the parts seperately?

yeah i guess its just the gearbox ..its just everythings piled up on me at once ...got me thinking ...is it really worth it lol .

and another thing ...theres a few impreza's including mine ive seen advertised as WRX JDM ......is the jdm part because of the few bits and bobs like splitter spoiler etc ??

JDM - Japanese Domestic Market. i.e. a car built for the home market in Japan. Often slightly better spec'd than UK cars. It's just an acronym though, you won't see it on the V5 or boot lid lol.

Well if you tax the car for 6 months, then the mot and insurance will be 6 months after that and if you can afford to tax the car when its due for a year, they wont coincide with each other lol

This is why I've never sold a car! Too much of. Hoarder for my own good!

I know I won't recoup my costs, ever, but I love them to much to let them go!

Tim.
