your best gettin the fitting kit from godspeed.

you'll need the bigger handbrake shoes. the mounting brackets for the calipers and of course the STi disks and pads and calipers.

thanks mate, maybe if i explain more it will help.

i have an sti and am fitting new brakes to the rear of it so the brembos discs etc are all coming off.

so i have the calipers, discs and handbrake shoes, i was just wondering if it would all go on a wrx or does anything need changing?

Still going to need bracket to mount the calliper as the disc is larger

if its a new-age WRX with the std "subaru" 2pots then the rear calipers are a straight swap, however the h/brake uses a 20mm larger set-up on the STi so you wither need "sleeved" brake discs or an over-size show kit to allow it to work correctly.............

I know my WRX discs wouldn't work on STI hubs when I did the sixspeed conversion, so presumably the sti disc's may not work on wrx hubs?

i dont know trev, this is what im trying to find out, both cars are 100 pcd, the handbrake shoes arent a problem as ill take them of with the discs etc.

was it the drum for the handbrake that was the problem on your car? i.e the wrx one is smaller so wont fit the sti hub.

I'm upgrading with rear brembo's but have the bigger sti drums so not a problem for me.
There is a ridge on the wrx disc which stopped us putting it on the sti hub, I can't say for sure if it's a problem the other way around but just to say it might be.

wrx hub 160mm - sti hub 180mm (i think, dont remember now)
you need goodspeed handbrake shoes approx 120 quid

As Stockcar says they will swap across you just either need the thicker handbrake shoes or the inner drum area of the discs sleaving.

Think the thicker shoes are around £100 and your STI discs would work on the WRX then.

Have a look at my thread in projects maybe page 4 as I've got pictures showing the brackets I fitted last time around on my classic... All will be clear then, has Emma got sliding rear Calipers fitted on the bug? The hub maybe the same as on a late classic if its a sliding one, from memory you drop an extra 10mm of pad on the handbrake shoe to standard as the Sti disc will be 20mm larger on the ID to the one fitted.

i dont know what the rear calipers are, they are black with subaru written on them. they are round in the middle.

ill take a look, when we are going to fit them ill ring ian at godspeed as it sounds like new handbrake shoes are required.

Ah I think they are the old two pots if that's the case, you will still be able to fit your set up on it but I don't know if the mounting holes would be the same as the old sliding Calipers or not.

On a 2001 onwards WRX , the Sti brembo discs and calipers will fit straight on , you don't need the bracket kit , you will need the thicker handbrake shoes though , you cannot use the Sti handbrake shoes as they will not fit onto a WRX rear hub .

Yes we do , we also sell rear discs with an insert fitted in them so they then fit the standard WRX handbrake shoes.

The insert discs are better , the handbrake will always be better , if you need new discs anyway its the way I would recommend , if you already, have good discs then the handbrake shoes would be cheaper
Cheers Ian
