Petrol versus Diesel on new Forester
Is it worth lpg converting the new petrol model Forester or is the diesel a better option?
I have a 2003 Forester lpg converted and going well and if change over to the new model post 2009 I would not like to be without the low transfer box. The petrol model is the only one with a low box but all the reviewers say it is weedy and gutless......thanks for your opinions.

Don't know about the LPG, but I'd guess at the diesel not needing a low range as it has much more low down torque. Drive a diesel version and make your own mind up as to whether or not you really need the low range transfer box.

LPG versus diesel
Thanks for the useful comments and here are a few things to think about in the lpg vs diesel question, for example;
my 2003 Forester conversion to lpg has saved me more than the price of the car! The original exhaust is still on it at 140,000 and the MOT emissions have never been an issue. LPG is cleaner and greener than diesel too!
The new petrol Forester is reputed to give 37.7 mpg so an lpg conversion on the petrol Forester would give approx 30-35 mpg which is the equivalent of 60-70 mpg adjusted for a 10-20% loss = approx 50-60 mpg. This is way better then any diesel model.
Seems to be a no brainer
The hill I live on in Scotland gets some severe snow and low box is no luxury, it is a necessity!
I am interested to know if anyone has lpg converted the new Forester as well as just how good 1st gear is in the new Forester diesel at controlling hill descent?
Cheers
