Default Cat D check

Where is the best check online to see if a car has been cat D in the past?
Cheers

cat d could mean a scuff on the bumper to a bent chassis, cat d is basicly insurance repaired.

Incorrect am afraid. A car is written off because it is uneconomical to repair ie parts and labour to the value of the car. And the category is supposed to represent the severity of the danger. Cat c needing a vehicle identiny check. (V.I.C) check to make sure it the car it's ment to be and not a ringer. Cat d just apply for the log book. I have put many a right off back on the road and av seen cat c cars needing a new bumper Nd head light and A cat d needing jigged massively. Many people think if a car is repaired through insurance it's on the list but it isn't.

Hope this clears it up for ya.

If a car is written off then the insurance didn't fix it. Clue is in the title to be honest it has been rotten off!

Cars outstanding stolen for more than 2 weeks get paid out by the insurance company.
If they are then recovered, 'undamaged'.... don;t they get a CAT D marker!!!?

Not always as clear cut though. Cars can be written off due to being stolen, then recovered AFTER the insurance have paid out. Happened to one of our customers.

Plus don't immediately think a write off is a bad thing, it's got a lot to do with the situation and also the agae of the car when written off,

Example.

A 2yr old car approx value of 10k would get written off for approx £7k worth of damage,

The same car once 5yrs old valued at 5k would get written off for 3k worth of damage.

While the cars value depreciates the cost of new parts stay the same, sadly this factor is writing cars off for fun, when in reality they can be repaired for a lot less if green parts were used,

My first mk4 golf was a cat c write off. No body damage, it had the leather heated recaros pinched and this wrote the car off.

Why would a Cat A need re-jigging, I thought they were salvageable parts ONLY and not meant to be put back on the road

A is crush.
B is scrap/parts

A tends to be biohazard think floods, or fire damage.

That's crazy! You never think of that!
Make sure that your insurers cover Cat D songs. Two of my previous insurers have said no to potential cars.

Yes they can and often will see them as "Q" plates same as kit cars, you can sell the complete shell as a breaker providing the identity of the car stays with the breakers I.e log book, we sold a 22b we had in that caught fire after a front end bump, couldn't release the documents for it, but could sell everything off it in bits inc the shell, the local Subaru gurus by us bought it and used the panels on a van they built iirc
