This is what I thought!! I have suspected big end failure so done abit of investigating today have strained the oil through a cloth which took over an hour and there was nothing atal left in the cloth!

Had it over a pit and the noise that only accours with small blips of the throttle sounds as if its coming from the box/clutch also the noise it slightly louder when clutch is depressed!!

It's doing my head in lol!!

Where you from?

Not hearing a little piston slap from cold are you? Or is it continuous regardless of the temp?

What led up to this happening, it is possible to have slack bearings without any fleck showing through in the oil if its only just started.

cheers

How is your clutch? Still feel as it normally does? Not the clutch starting to deteriorate is it and where your putting your foot on the clutch so its engaged, its catching on the flywheel / pressure plate somehow? Flywheel bolts loose or actual flywheel damaged? If your confident its coming from that area and its definitely worse when the clutch is engaged then I would be inclined to pull it apart to start looking for an answer, its sounding box/clutch related with the way your describing it

Does the knock/rattle get louder/faster when held at a steady rev? Is it specifically more noisy at one part of the rev band than the rest I.E loudest at 1500rpm and no noise higher up the revs at 6k?

It doesn't do it if the revs are held at any point it's only little blips and only does it right at the start of the blip if ya get wot I'm saying lol! On the way back from investigating it today was abit more confident that it may not be big ends so took it through the gears more but still didn't cane it and it comes on boost lovely and makes no funny noises. The only time it's apparent when driving is pulling away in first can hear a knock/rattle.

It's doing me in not had it 2 weeks just want to enjoy it!

I think your experiencing a little piston slap at the lower of the revs, alot of cars do it, its nothing majorly to worry about, is it slightly louder when cold? can you hear a very light type of knock/slap noise almost a hollow type knock rather than a full on grumble?

A big end knock is noticeably worse when loading the engine.
The best way of picking it up is to tweak the throttle with the bonnet up.
Hold it at approximately 1500 rpm then blip to 3000 or so. The first part of the rev uptake will be much noisier if the big ends have failed, like a sort of brrrrp sound.

It sounds like something loose or maybe catching.
Your gonna have to take her in and get it checked by a specialist.
It doesnt sound engine related to me.

sounds like it could be in time with the boost solenoid? Appreciate the actual noise is far to loud to be the solenoid itself but could this be having a knock on affect on something else?
