Basic modifications for a WRX?

I'm also interested in this.
PPP is a (big) choice.
Morettes, or consider STI-style lamps if you wish.
Clear lamp protectors and fog lamp protectors - cheaper than replacing a smashed unit.
Xenon headlight bulbs.
Consider a brake upgrade - pads only, or discs and callipers as well if you want to spend a grand or so.
OEM Tyres ain't wonderful for the handling.
I'm getting side strips and a towbar, both to protect me from other loonies, not because I tow anything.
That's the serious stuff. You can add as much tart as your bank balance can take

>>a PPP car is surley easier to sell than a car with a non standard ecu?
All things being equal, probably. How many people buy a car with a clear focus on maintaining resale value though? How many people buy a Scooby with resale in mind?
