Are Impreza's really that hard to sell?
I keep reading on here that the market is dead, and cars aren't selling, and are going for peanuts..... But is that really the case?
A friend put his MY02 UK STI on Pistonheads for £4995 and it sold for £4700 within 20 minutes.
Then there was the thread when many didn't think MattyB would get around £7k for his car.... and he did.
And COB sold his Turbo 2000 straight away.
OK not that many seem to sell on here, but on Pistonheads/autotrader they seem to sell easily, and for good money?
So are we to assume there are too many on here moaning about nothing on here or is there another answer?
Maybe the future in these cars aren't as bad as many on here seem to hope.

.... And add to that when I was considering selling my Newage I had 2 people want to come and see it within an hour of me advertising it. The only reason it's still here is because I decided to keep it by the next day.

Good cars or cars with decent spec priced fairly sell very quickly. Mine sold within 24hrs on piston heads, was a great car at a very fair price, simple as that.
Its the average cars that struggle, people either want a cheap shed or an above average car with good spec priced accordingly.
This place is also not the place to sell them, ebay for cheap ones and piston heads for decent cars.

Have to agree with Tubby
Surely you've seen the amount ****ters on ebay etc?
**** poor/misleading adverts, stupid graphics, power exggerations, wildly over the top selling prices etc are all hardly going do the decent Impreza sellers a favour.

My blob sti sold within a day of advertising on pistonheads. I then bought a cheap classic uk turbo from the autotrader website. Think they sell quite easily depending on condition, spec & more importantly whether it's realistically priced!

I fully appreciate that the good ones are fetching good money, but it appears that whenever anyone asks what their car is worth the doom and gloom brigade would has us think that the market is on its **** for all subaru's, regardless of the condition.
It's just good to see that they are wrong, and that good ones are still going for good money.

I had a 94 wrx I sold few years back here in a day or so. Most recently got rid of a stock bug wrx in about 3 days after putting it on piston heads.
I think the thing that makes them hard to sell is people overvalue their work. I always remember someone saying to me it means nothing what you think it's worth. It's only value is that of the buyer.

My car is not even for sale but ive had 3 offers to buy it, 2 of them deadly serious as well, I think as its been said above it depends on what you have and how its been kept, You can tell a good one from a bad one in no time and considering that there are quite a few bad ones out there surely this helps to sell the good ones, If you know what i mean

Keeping mine mate, decided to actually start using the thing properly.
Not sure what to do with the Type R, might keep it... might sell it.
Untill i can afford a R34 GTR.... then i'll definately sell the pair!

My Mrs is using it as her daily car, so fortunately it's not just sitting there.
I know what you mean about driving it for the first time in a while, drove it today and it certainly put a grin on my face

I'm going to go and say it, so flamesuit is ready - but right now I think Subaru Impreza's represent one of the best car per £ on the market. There are plenty of rough examples out there, but the minters really do seem to vanish in hours/days of being listed.
Models such as the widetrack Blob, JDM Hawk and stuff like that are really easy to sell at the moment. So easy, if people could coordinate they might even qualify for a bit of appreciation! Alright, I'm being silly now but you see my point.
Impreza's are so cheap at the moment, I'm seeing absolute mint examples being broken for parts. If you've got the time/space you can make considerably more ££ by breaking even a desirable model.

Except when I'm pissed that is.

I felt my Impreza was fairly priced considering the good and bad points. No interest on here which you would generally expect as it wasn't particularly special, but on eBay I got lots of interest within minutes literally.
The advert I did was good, straight to the point and outlined everything honestly. I had a few £900-1000 offers again within the hour of putting it up. Then a nice chap called Ben (who eventually bought it) got in touch and offered near the full price.
So in the end I got £1,200 for my wagon. A fair price for a good car, regardless of what the usual trolls think
And it's been replaced yesterday actually... by something French

I've been trying to sell my mint condition white 2005 STI PPP with only 26k miles on it and FSSH and got no interest whatsoever, even at what I would say was a pretty fair price. If a car like that won't sell, I don't know how anybody else manages to shift them. I think the price of petrol has done for the market in cars like these.

Car tax doesn't help either. Mine and Matty's cars are £221 for the year. So that's (in Matt's case) is a 400bhp car costing the same to tax as a 1.6 Escort or something. But a newage would in the upper elchions of £400+ even in standard form. It's a big difference ££.
