Someone on here posted a while back a match to DBM in the Rover range - I wouldnt touch the official one myself

Your paint code should be on a plate in the engine bay, near the passenger side suspension turret. And yes, the official touch-up paint for DBM is VERY dark - a case of warming the pen in warm water & shaking for 10 minutes to mix the settled paint I think.

my my00 code is 95h from memory - double check that though, panel is one passenger side, you can't miss it

I have a touch-up stick for DBM (MY00) - you can have it if you like. It won't match your car, though

The closest I've found is Halfords' Rover Tahiti Blue Pearlescent '93, which is what I used to colour code the wedges in my front bumper. It looks good there, but then again they're in shadow and it's impossible to tell whether they're exactly the same or not. I'd be hesitant to try and blend it in with 'real' DBM paintwork.

Your best bet might be to try and get a body shop to make you up a batch - I had my car partially resprayed earlier this year, and the match is absolutely perfect. I don't care what people say about matching modern paint finishes being impossible, you really can't see the join.

Andy.

I've found it impossible to get a proper match as well - the pen supplied by the dealer is useless. In the end I got a small pot of paint off a guy who had his bumper resprayed, the match is perfect

Just thin it 50% with cellulose thinners....all of the touch up paints need this anyway as they are far too thick to start with.

It would explain a lot if that was the case, but my touch-up pen paint code is the same as the code on the car & they still don't match!
