For spirited driving/track use be sure you have a large catch can with a return to sump,,, oy time my impreza uses oil is on track
I was using around 1/2 a litre of oil each lap of the nurburgring so I'm fitting a more advanced breather set up with -10 return to sump with a adaptor where the sump goes

Basically a three port would be better as there are three breathers you need to connect. 2 from the rockers and 1 from the crank case. If you have a 3 port can then each breather has its own port. However, if you only have a 2 port can then just tee the two rocker breathers together.
I opted to use 2 cans. One for my rocker breathers and one for the crank case. This is not nessasary but I removed my air con so wanted to fill the gap in the bay.

OBP manufacture a very nice Subaru specific catch can with the correct sized ports that match the breather outlet port sizes, and it has three ports which is more desirable than having to have combine inlet hoses.
They are baffled, well made and far cheaper than the RCM product but more expensive than some of the eBay jobbies.

I wouldn't advise a return to sump. If you saw what is caught in the can you wouldn't want that sent back into your sump.
Theres a few cans on ebay that have two ports and a filter on the top.
Tee the two rocker breathers together and feed to one port and use the other port for the crank case.
Sorted.

It might be worth your time to remove the hoses connected to your intercooler and making sure they aren't dripping with oil, if they are then you'll have to get the intercooler chemically cleaned.

Think about this fir a bit
Filter in a breather with return to sump is fine as otherwise you will use loads of oil ,,, change the oil regular and all will be fine,, I'm fitting 2 cans with transit oil filters inside and one feeds the other with the second returning to sump,,,, it may not work but I'm sure if I change the filters every 3k I should be ok and won't waste oil each lap

If it isn't plumbed up properly then the chances are that any oil vapour will end up going back through your turbo and collecting in your intercooler.

My car didn't use a drop of oil and my cans were not plumbed back into the sump.
Admittedly I didn't use it on track but was driven very hard on the road.
For road use I wouldn't suggest return to sump setup.
If your using that much oil on track then id be wondering why.

Mine uses very little. Half a litre per 5000 miles. With catch can. Road and track use. Not plummed to sump either. All i ever get in my can is water thats oily to the touch.
