Parking ticket.
Has any body had a parking ticket with contravention code 01 and appealed? Its says i was parked in a area not with in prescribed hours. It was on a main road where there were double yellow lines but i was parked on a path that is quite wide not the road,
Do the yellow lines still count on the path?
I have read that you can load / unload for 20 mins on double yellows? This may be part of my appeal as The person issuing the ticket who i did not see states that they observed the vehicle for 6 mins on the ticket.
Any way any body else appealed them and to what success?
Cheers i was fuming when seen it as people are parked there all the time when i drive past.

Was it a cobled road as they are all classed as double yellows with out having to have them painted on, i think.
If not it should be a different offence of parking on the footpath.
Unfortunately "The highway" covers the footpath as well.

Loading and unloading of vehicle would only normally class as a commercial vehicle and not just for someone parking there. Unless you can prove that you are the shop owner that you were parked near then I should think you are just going to have to learn by your miss fourtune and pay the fine.

i was parked on a road picking up my kid from school. A car parked opposite making the road very narrow for cars using the road. there were no parking restrictions but a copper came up to me and told me off. Said i should park up on the curb . I told him that was illegal. The copper just tutted and walked away lol. Tossers !

I'm a Civil enforcement officer.
With double yellows, it is from the building line to the centre of the road, he has give you the 5 mins obvs time, he would of waited to see if you were unloading/loading.
You can appeal, make sure all the signs for the road are valid, also if your going down the loading route with the appeal the will ask for paperwork to back up your claim.
Goodluck.

So a code 01 says Parked in a restricted street during prescribed hours
Whete as i thought mine would be a 62 which is Parked with one or more wheels on any part of an urban road other than a carriageway (footway parking)
Am i right?

Not knowing all the details.
Sounds like the right code was enforced, a 01 is issued when parked on double yellows with no sign of loading or dropping off or picking up.
He would of spotted your car, entered your reg and con code he was about to issue, his handheld would then pause the request for 5 mins to allow an observation period, during this period he HAS to stay in sight of your car to see if any loading is happening.

have a look closely at the double yellows, in the highway code they are 'unbroken yellow lines with a transverse mark at each end'
http://www.ticketfighter.co.uk/parking.htm
'unbroken' is where you might have a chance. if they have had road works and not been repainted or damage anywhere on them, by law, they are invalid and they do not comply with official diagrams
http://www.ticketfighter.co.uk/signs.htm#1010 - 1018.1
in small print it states - no variants. go and measure them, if they aren't correct, they mean nothing
good luck

Just to add, if you are appealing, make sure you do it within 14 days of issue, that way you will still be entitled to the reduced fine rate if the appeal doesn't go in your favour and have to pay.

Good advice. I once ran back to my vehicle from shopping in town knowing my ticket had expired. The female traffic warden was there looking at my ticket which by then was 5 mins out. As i made my pathetic excuse she smiled and said, "calm down, you have 15 mins after the ticket expiry before i can issue a fine". Lovely lady who informed me of a right i never knew i had.

You don't get 15 mins in each borough,,,, they ALL choose how to enforce ect
If you was on footpath and not yellow line then wrong code was used,,,, thing is 62 offence is a instant ticket as you should never be driving on a pavement and is a very hard ticket to appeal from where's a 01 you can just send a invoice for a delivery and you win,,, law is 20 moms unloading but the classification of unloading is something that requires 2 people to carry but again down to discretion of council on that
I used to train the RTA of 1991 when I was younger,, some info on here is just incorrect as it the term traffic warden,,, they generally don't enforce yellow lines anymore since they decriminalised the RTA of 1991 back in 19940.
