Default Maintaining Boost pressure - SC36 turbo

I have a SC36 turbo fitted with a few supporting mods. JGM noted that it wasn't holding boost brilliantly.

Boost pressure peaks at 1.5 bar (21psi) and drops to 1.2 bar (18psi) at 6500rpm.

What factors could be causing it not to hold boost? Actuator? Recirculating valve on intercooler?

Any help would be appreciated!

There was no obvious reason.

The sc36 normally hold boost pretty much to redline

Hi Simon, yes agree, possibly the heads and probably the cam timing possibly being offset one bank to the other is not helping. WRX heads are notorious for this sort of VE thing.
Std airbox and inlet pipe would not be any problem, the sports cat might be an influence though if that was choking things or not being as free flowing as it should for some reason.

Thinking about the panel filter now ... not a Cosworth is it ?

cheers

The panel filter is a do-luck filter from scooby world.
can the cam timing be looked at and adjusted fairly easily?

Yes it can be.

From memory it was only the boost dropping. Power matched what I would expect from that boost level. So didnt suspect cam timing at fault but easy to check

Yea power has a nice curve to it and doesn't look to be dropping. Just wanted to see if i can rectify the not holding boost issue (if in deed it is an issue) before i change the exhaust to a full 3 inch system and get it back to you to be mapped running a meth mix. My use of the car has changed to weekend toy so want to have a bit of fun before i blow the box or engine.

Sorry for the hijack but it's to do with the sc range of turbo at least and as two mappers have popped up it would be nice for their input

https://www.scoobynet.com/scoobynet-...2-5-motor.html

If you could offer some valuable info from a mappers point of view, there would be some happy members.
