Default Taking 330bhp Blob STI to around 350?

Firstly my blob STI type uk is 332bhp with printout from scoobyclinic ( previous owners work ) I believe all it has is a full decat turbo back 3" cobra exhaust ( not sure if down pipe will be true 3"? ) and a CAI with ramair filter in inner wing and remap to support these.

I'm thinking about going back to standard air box setup with performance panel filter, mainly because I prefer the standard looking bays and it seems an unnecessary risk/chew on to check when it's in the wing.

So if I was to bite the bullit and revert back to air box setup which will likely need a remap I was thinking I might aswell improve where possible to eek a little more power from the map, what else could I put in place to gain a little extra power?

Uprated fuel pump?
Harvey up pipe?
Would my standard headers be fine?
Can my injectors flow enough for around 350?
Oh and what can my standard turbo run at?

I may push for a little more in the future when funds will stretch to a turbo and anything else needed but for now I just want to run decent power on the standard turbo

Sorry the long post of drivel, I suppose I could have just asked "what's needed for around 350bhp on blob STI"

Many thanks

Mick

Well hello 1st of all
Now your turbo if standard is a Vf35 which should be good for 340/350 max
Your standard headers are fine for 380 max
Your injectors 360ish but maxed
Put your standard air box with a cosworth panel filter 380/400 max
It most probably has a 3" down pipe
The standard fpr is fine for 360
Fuel pump may already been changed but get someone to have a look
Spark plugs pfr7b
3 port boost solinoid
Map and maybe a new clutch if not changed already

its no biggie really with a newage sti to get to 350 or so bhp, with the mods mentioned above its more the mapping side as you have the basic parts needed in place already,it just start's to get a wee bit pricer when heading for 400 bhp if you ever decide to.SJ.

Cheers for the input fellas, was really just hoping to optimise what I've got once the CAI is replaced so out of the lists above is there anything I would benefit from changing if only looking for 350?

Would I benefit from a Harvey up pipe if using standard headers at all?

Oh and I keep reading about 3 port boost solenoids but what do they actually do over the standard unit?

Would a walbro pump from a classic STI fit in a newage tank? I have one lying around tis all.

I'll change my plugs before a map anyway as a matter of course and my clutch should be fine as its an exedy unit with relatively low miles on it ( I would just change that myself anyway if problems occurred )

Thanks again

Mick

A 3 port boost control solenoid allows finer boost control, Mick.

You'd possibly be better off with ported headers and matched up-pipe, than just the up-pipe. Not too familiar with Newage cars though.

Cheers mick, I'm starting to think its gonna be better to leave as is ( it's plenty quick anyway tbh ) then just go the whole hog when I can afford a suitable turbo, I don't want to go daft anyway as I'm trying to avoid blowing it up lol.

Cheers

Think things through and what and where you want to get too. Make a shopping list and get a good size box. Looking through the Group Buy section and various other sites build up your collection of bits to fit then once all ready. Get a one hit fit and re-map.

Don't bother with changing the up pipe. If I was u I would leave the car as it is if it has seficient power, otherwise u will just be chasing numbers. I regret doin my car to 385hp. I wish sometimes I had left it 340hp with 342 lb. well good luck on what ever u deside

When I first bought the car I spoke to Duncan from dynamix as i was wanting more power and told him it had the air feed and he advised me that the cold air intake was the best option to have as I was gona change it back. My plans for the car were to fit a vf48 turbo and some blue injectors from the hawk WRX. But then with the little one coming. I just sold it to you instead :-)

Also spoke to rob84 the and he told me headers good for 400bhp so wouldn't waste money on them. And I don't think anyone would notice 20bhp difference with the power it's got already its not much of a % increase tbh

Aye cheers chris, the little extra power will have just been a bonus from going back to air box set up with a few extra mods, I'm not one for chasing numbers tbh but I've not hada car yet where I haven't wasted a load of cash making it noisy and a bit quicker lol.

I'm gonna keep saving the pennies and sort the few little odd jobs on the car ( must remember to sort that clip on the side skirt which I asked about 5 weeks ago lol )

Then I'll see where I want to go ( probably a shell garage )

you definately will see a benefit with a "harvey" up-pipe over std more-so spool wise, and the std headers do benefit from porting to suit.........

headline figures are not the only answer

Oe filter , tm excellent for 350-400
It'll be the 1.5 bar max boost setting on oe ecu if anything
I'd personally replace turbo to a filter pipe for a Perrin or sc item for better air flow
You could port headers and up pipe as I did on a 450 hp sti
But that's more for torque than hp
And drivability obviously.
Don't get fixated on 350 as turbo may be a good one ie do it may be a lazy one ie doesn't
Keep oe recirculating dv .... Don't be tempted for noisey ones etc no need and a waist of money .
Maybe a crank pulley lightened Perrin rcm etc for faster pick up and less stress etc
