Default Looking for my first Impreza

hi all,

I'm just trying to get my reseach in, i want a subaru impreza WRX but not 100% sure about what version to get. I first my budget will be around the £2.5K mark. I was thinking about the early bug eye (to keep in the cheaper over 1500cc tax) and l like the look of the bug eyes! unless some one can point me to good reasons to get a classic

What are they like on MPG?
What is better to get Jap Import or uk spec?

Thanks in advance for any help or advice!!

Cheers
James

the sport is by far the best model you can buy, with a panel filter and exhaust you will get 450 bhp

Lol yes the brz is a mix of the classic and, later models . But classic is the real heritage of Subaru cars to date. Mines at 350/330 24 mpg ;@/

Since no one is being helpful....

I guess they are trying to say, just read around the forums for a bit, all of your questions have been answered numerous times.

Early bug eyes are available for killer money right now, but you're best buying on condition rather than any other specific parameters (owners, mileage etc). Keep some money aside for the necessary niggles you'll find when buying a new used car, and you'll be fine. You may be able to find a good classic for that money, but there will be more age related issues, possible arch rust to contend with, and the better ones are holding their value well right now.

Fuel economy on my 03 WRX (totally standard) is currently averaging 25.6mpg over the last 1500 miles of motorway (80mph-ish), some short 5 mile each way journeys a few times a week, and some longer 35 mile A/B road blasts. 80mph on the motorway is about 29mpg, back road hooning about 22mpg, and short journeys make you want to cry. Over similar driving my old 1.8T Octavia vRS would be about 32mpg, although could be eked out further to 38mpg on a run. On the WRX there's not going to be a day where you get over 30mpg, it's just not happening!

On the Classic vs newage, it depends what you're after. The interior on the classic is definitely dated, but it's purer and the seats are significantly better - although the early <53 plate WRX interior isn't great either, it can be upgraded relatively easier to the >53 spec. Handling on the newage is definitely softer, and the potency of the engine is somewhat masked by the heavier body, but it is a nicer place to be if like me you're covering miles at all hours, usually knackered after a long day outside climbing or something. You'll need more power in a newage to get the same performance but it is a more modern car...pay your money and take your choice!

I was recently looking at getting a classic again but ended up finding a 2001 bug for less than what some classics are advertised for!

Really glad I got the bug as it feels more refined inside than my last classic
