You'll notice the power increase, until your engine ***** a chicken.
I spoke to someone yesterday with an immaculate Impreza, just resprayed, a list of quality mods, VF34, de-cat, 255 pump, front mount, etc but when I asked who mapped it he said "I havent had it mapped coz I didnt want it to blow up, mappin blows ya engine mate"
I hung up.

Its an on-going argument on Facebook regarding de-cats. There are several members of Subaru Swap Shop offering advice to people saying that fitting a de-cat and induction kit doesn't require a remap or at least checking the AFR.

well I had full de cat on my MY97 turbo with K&N then swapped to ITG filer... never had it re mapped and never had any problems. Plus serviced at a reputable subaru Specialist (TSL)

Induction cone filters (not a panel in the airbox) are renowned for being maf killers, coupled with a de-cat and theyre a recipe for overboosting and det. some people chance it but eventually get a map and some just do it thinking they'll gain 30bhp with no risk.

Then when I told him that a uk2000 with 140k on the clock and no remap was worth about £2k, regardless of wether its a "show car" or not, he didnt sound happy, but said someone else already offered 2 grand lol

Heres the latest quality advice
"I've de-catted two of my imprezas the first one did not get remapped because you can't remap a my96 without an esl i brought a fuel pump, decat and fmic had a mapper set up his det cans and i did some 4th gear pulls not a sparkle of det the car was a UK turbo 2000 and ran 299.4bhp on the dyno"

I started and run Subaru swap shop. How members on here can slag a page off without even owning a facebook account is beyond me. Just like on scoobynet you have lots of different and sometimes wrong opinions. Anybody worth there salt knows any mod on a scoob requires a map of some sort. the kind of people who don't know are usually young and new to the marque. if you read the whole posts theres plenty of people who tell the unitiated that you need mapping. and looking through peoples facebook profiles and singling out a six year old girl is a bit below the belt. and another note tubby tommy its a bit ironic you slag off the bright orange classic covered in dodgy stickers yet you sell.... dodgy sticker kits and fake vents lol
